Re:Breaking 1000! - 2008/08/31 12:12
Susie, thanks for the kind words. But we're not quite there....
The number that you see posted on the site is the TOTAL number of registrations. That number is slightly inflated, for various reasons.
Sites like this experience a significant number of automated, spam registrations. I just cleaned up about a dozen, which brought the registration total down from 1001 to 993.
There are a small number of members who registered more than once, perhaps because they forgot the username and/or password of their original account. (If you are a member who has registered more than once, please let me know.) And I have two accounts; my member account and an admin account.
There are approximately 45 folks who have registered since the site debuted, but have not confirmed their account. The system sends reminders and some folks have received numerous ticklers, but still not confirmed.
The "official" number at noon on Saturday, August 31, is 992. That is an incredible accomplishment, attributable directly to the efforts of site members to contact and invite their friends. "Word of mouth" has built this site to what it is today.
The site receives about 2,700 unique visitors a month and is visited over 500 times a day. Many of you stay a long time at the site!
August has been a record month for alumni registrations with 71 new Dragons finding the site. At that pace, we will be talking about the 1,000 level being broken for real some time next week!
I will let you know....
