Re:Miss Jolley - 2007/08/25 07:33 A couple of years ago, the bf ( Mike Haithcock) and I did the charles harris 10k and she was one of the volunteers at the sign in table at Tucker High School. She looked great and had the same cheerful demeanor.....she was sitting next to Mr Loyd and the two were bantering.....I reminded her of one of the many anecdotes she told the class (ie when those annoying Jehovahs Witnesses came a-calling , she would smile sweetly and say " I am practicing nudist, would you like to come in?") .....she acted dismayed at her own behaviour and then started chuckling....she is still very cool........Lorraine

Re:Miss Jolley - 2007/08/25 10:24 Miss Jolley made a huge impact in my life. If she ever reads this, I'd just like her to know I am so grateful for her.

I had her for English in 11th grade, when I was going through a very bad time in life. In short, my self-esteem was completely shot. I had been drifting into things I needed not to, and somehow she noticed. She told me I was better than that, and she even elevated me to the next level English, letting me know she believed I could step up to it. This made a huge difference in my life that she believed in me, and for that, I am eternally grateful.

Thank you, Miss Jolley!

Re:Miss Jolley - 2007/08/25 12:17 My favorite teacher was Ms. Lorraine. She was tough but I learned so much from her. I called her about 15 years ago to thank her for being so hard. She was retired and working in her yard that day. She was pleased to know she made a difference and said she had received other calls through the years.

Loved Mrs. Sykes/Chambers also; had her for 8th grade. Still love GA history because of her! I found out a few years ago that she is a lifelong friend of one of my good friends. The mutual friend says she is doing well.

Re:Miss Jolley - 2008/06/15 21:31 Miss Jolley was at the Class of 77 reunion last November and she was as drop dead gorgeous as ever and her smile was just as bright as ever. There are photos of all the teacher who attended in the '77 reunion pictures. She gave me a great big hug and expressed her pride in us. I hope we can get her to hang out with us again sometime soon!

She is also a memeber on this site.

Re:Miss Jolley - 2008/06/15 21:48 MISS GAIL JOLLY IS A MEMBER OF THIS SITE!!!
I called her a couple of months ago. She still lives in the Atlanta area and likes phone call as opposed to email! Check out her profile! She still sounds the same. I had here for homeroom and English my senior year (70). Maybe she can come to one of our get-togethers sometime!

Re:Miss Jolly - 2008/06/19 01:11 Pam, Ms Jolly is registered on this site but rarely visits it. I called her earlier this year and we talked for about 15 mins. She did remember me even after 38 years. She said she likes talking on the phone as opposed to emailing. Her phone # is on her profile (Jollygirl).
