Cyndi Armstrong - 2007/12/07 22:02
To Jamie and everyone else that asks me about Cyndi: (Dang...she STILL outshines me! Always has, always will! Sigh! I love her anyway!!!)
Yes, I am still in touch with Cyndi. She and her husband, Alec, are living in Northeast Ga. They have three wonderful (almost grown) kids: Jerry, Tommy, and Ashley. Ashley is the spitting image of Cyndi...it is almost frightening!
Cyndi always has been, and still is, a scream to be around. We have known each other since we were infants, literally sharing a crib. She is only 6 weeks older than I am, but because of where our birthdays fell in the calendar year, she was a grade ahead of me. We went through play school, kindergarten, elementary school, high school, boyfriends, marriages, divorces, second marriages, kids, etc., with each other.
I don't get to see her as much as I would like, but whenever we DO get together, it is like we have never missed a beat! I have told her about the website, but she doesn't "do the computer thing!" Maybe now that she has a whole Forum Topic dedicated to her, she will come on if for no other reason than to defend herself! Hehehehe!

Do you have a photo of her you could post, maybe something from one of the yearbooks? I know her name really well, but I can't picture her face, and I'm too lazy to drag my yearbooks out again. Thanks.

Re:Cyndi Armstrong - 2007/12/09 00:27
Here is Cyndi's Senior picture from SHS (Class of '79).
Cyndi is an amazing person. She is one of those women that "women want to BE her, and men want to be with her!" She was a beautiful spitfire/wild woman as a child/teen, and has grown up to be a beautiful and all-around wonderful woman. I always wanted to be just like her when I was a child. And when (if) I ever grow up, I still wanna be just like her!

Wow, that's quite a testimonial to the wonder that is this Cyndi Armstrong person!!!!
Thanks for the picture - I do remember her, but I didn't really "know" her. Sounds like I SHOULD have, though!!!

Hey Susie, Remember me. Leah Bryant. Well I too know and greatly admire Ms. Cyndi. She is one of those people you can be away from for years and get back with each other and it would be as if you talked yesterday. Cyndi and I became close friends after school(we knew each other at the skitin rink). We shared an apartment briefly and some good times. I still talk to her and try to go up and see her. I also told her about the website but she said the same thing to me. She does not do computers well. She is truly an amazing person and a friend forever. I miss her much.

Is there a connection between Cyndi and Jeff Armstrong ('74)? He lived in a subdivision down Montreal towards Clarkston? I've wondered what happened to Jeff...we were best buddies in Miss Jolly's class...anyone know? Is Cyndi his sister?

Re:Cyndi Armstrong - 2008/01/22 19:14
There is also another brother inbetween the 2. I think that Jeff Graduated in 74 or 75 and Ken graduated in 76, then Cyndi in 79. Cyndi, Jackie Gentry and I went to school together from 3rd grade on as well as several others. She is a mess! She does keep you laughing! You should see some of our elementary school pictures!!!!!!! OR MAYBE NOT!!!!!!!

Re:Cyndi Armstrong - 2008/01/23 00:24
Leah, of course I remember you! And you're right about Cyndi. We can go months without talking and then start up like we just got off the phone with each other ten minutes ago!
Yes, Gail and Tom: Jeff ('74), Ken ('76), and Cyndi ('79) are siblings. They did indeed live in Montreal Woods, on Vancouver Drive. Their backyard backed up to our side yard on Johns Road.
I have great memories of our family cookouts and homemade, hand-churned ice cream. I remember card games and daiquiris for the adults, while the Armstrong boys and the Martin boys battled over the boards playing Monopoly or Risk, or played football out in the back field. Cyndi and I must have made a zillion Easy Bake Oven cakes and 'go-go danced' to "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" in our white vinyl boots until we were worn out!
I have nothing but great memories of growing up with Cyndi. Oh wait, Cyndi cut off my Drowsy doll's hair. And Cyndi got ME to try the jalepeno peppers to see if they were any good when we were four! And oh yeah! I can STILL show you the scars on my arm from where Cyndi BIT ME! Man...she was a biter!
I remember when we were in kindergarten and Cyndi was running and fell and knocked out her two front teeth and swallowed them! We didn't think her permanent teeth were EVER gonna grow in! (I wasn't in a big hurry for them to come back in. I was afraid she would start biting me again!) I also remember when Cyndi and I wanted to be in the Idlewood Talent Show. I was in first grade, she was in second grade. We couldn't decide whether to sing "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" or "Tiny Bubbles." Oh lawdy! We ended up singing "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head." Yep, you guessed it! Rain coats, rain hats, umbrellas, and rubber rain boots! Thank GOD nobody has THAT on film! (At least I HOPE not!)
And Jackie, they WERE the first in our area to have cable tv. My parents wouldn't allow me to go over there if Jean and Jerry weren't home! They were afraid I might see some "porn" like Summer of '42 or American Graffiti!! <GASP!>
I am still in touch with Cyndi via phone or through her parents. I exchange emails with her parents almost everyday. (By the way, they are still WAY cool people!) I will BEG her once again to join the site, but don't hold your breath! I will also try to get Jeff and Ken to join, but who knows???
Jeff and his wife, Barbara, have been living in Florida for many years now. They have a grown son. Ken and his wife, Chris, are still in the metro Atlanta area. They have grown kids and a few grandkids, too! And Cyndi and her husband, Alec, have three (almost) grown kids and live up in the north Georgia mountains. Jean and Jerry (Mr. and Mrs. A.) live near Cyndi and Alec. To know the Armstrongs is to know a good time!

Re:Cyndi Armstrong - 2008/01/23 17:32
I reeeaaaalllly liked Jeff Armstrong in our senior year (and you can tell him I said so, too!)

I "went steady" with Marshall for over 2 years, until two weeks before I graduated (that'd be February 14, 1974 -- what a day to dump a girl!), so I guess Jeff thought of me as just "one of the guys". He would tell me his "girl troubles", and I would give him advice on how to fix 'em... boo-hoo!
Oh well, life's that way, huh?...and I'm really pleased with the way things have worked out, Hank!
