Wonder who remembers this... - 2007/08/14 20:19
Anybody else here remember the Crotts Roll? One of the defining evenings of my SHS experience. In the excitement of the moment, I neglected to count who all was there, but I can think of at least 9 or 10 even now right off the top of my ever balding head who participated.
So was there anyone else here who partcipated in that dark deed who will step up and admit complicity?
While you're at it, can anybody still explain what a Jackson Rod does?

Wasn't there a guy named Mike Crotts that was a wrestler...like back in the class of '72 maybe? Seems like my brother, Mark, used to wrestle a guy by that name.

Yes. I knew your brother Mark, and Mike was a wrestler, and a very good-natured guy, and friend. We messed with him a lot, but only because he could take it so well.
The organized "activity" at his house even made the morning announcements, and the crowd that night was rather large. It was so large in fact that an alternate approach route had to be designed, enterprising young students that we were, and was executed flawlessly (except for that barbed wire fence I found out about running full speed in the dark). DeKalb County's finest did make an appearance, but no harm was done, and everyone had a great time. There were many stories the next Monday at SHS.
I'd still like some "insider" views on the event, if any here will step up to the mic.

Yes, I think my brother, Mark, was in the class of '73. I need to change that in my profile, too! I just got confused because he is sooooooooo much OLDER than me! Hahahahahaha!
I remember how he would FAST before the meets, and then afterwards eat like a pig! He actually learned how to make homemade lasagna because that was what he wanted after the meets! He turned out to be a pretty good cook!
But boy was he mean to me! Man..he used to practice his wrestling moves on me, and sit on me and pop my toes! Or tickle me! One time he tickled me so much and I was laughing so hard that I threw up on him. He never did that again!!!
Ahhh, the good ole days!

I remember the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Tim Woodruff and I went - Mom couldn't believe I was going out at 10:30pm to the movies...and we had to take burned toast, umbrella, newspaper and various other stuff with us. We went back a second time and took Mr. Ellis and Mrs. Rogers with us! It was a hoot. Tim had the entire move memorized...

Rocky Horror - After a football game in the fall of '78, Mark Stapleton talked several of us Spirit Boosters into going down to the Film Forum on Peachtree to see it (Gerald, myself, maybe Dwight Tabor and/or Tom Rumble? Not sure)Anyway, I'd never heard of it and had no idea what to expect, and the people there were really into it big-time - the full "cult" experience was pretty mind-blowing, with the costumes and the sing-alongs and the toast, rice, and water flying through the air, and the interactive script...what a trip!
Did I mention that all of us were still wearing our matching green izods, white tennis shorts, and green & white Pumas? We probably looked just as bizarre as the rest of the crowd -

Mark, I can tell you exactly what a Jackson Rod does, but I bet Bob Findley still can't.
I hope he's not still trying to find where it's located on his car.

LOL... Mickey, that one came from nowhere! I wonder if Findley ever found it? I can always ask Steve Tomlinson if he knows. I'll give him a call tomorrow.
Great to hear from you. Hope all is well. I just sent Cliff a birthday note. Maybe he'll find it next year. LOL.
