Hey Bruce,
Remember me? We played football a few times in your front yard with the Lesters, Freddy Julian, Tony Moon and a few others. Then you moved.
Hope everthing is great.

Re:Old Shamrock Neighborhoods - 2008/02/24 00:19
I remember the lion that was chained to the front of that house. It was strange that that was even allowed. Every time my dad drove us by there I would look just to see it. That was so long ago I think I was in 9th grade. I still drive thru Pearidge pretty regularly on L'ville hwy going towards North Dekalb area. On the corner there where the Hess station is there used to be an old, wooden house that was painted dark green in color. It was a little hard to see that house because it was surrounded by trees and bushes. They tore that house down to build Hess.

Mark,
You do look familiar!!!! I am sure that we must have run into each other at some point. If not in the neighborhood than probably at a party. Did you frequent Hemingway's?

Jamie,
Ah yes... far too much time spent at Hemingway's, I'm afraid. Wish I had a dime back for every beer I slammed down!
Anyway, you were probably very young when I was playing around in the neighborhood. I came up to Clay's house a time or two, and I knew he had a little sister. But it was usually at the Hall's, Harris' or Julian's yards that we would play ball, if not mine, and I don't think you followed him around then. I was probably 3-4 years older than Clay, and you were what - 2-3 years younger then him? I graduated in '74, and was done at Tech by '78, so how many years is that? I think I've convinced myself that we prolly didn't cross each other's paths much, but it's great to finally meet you!
So how is Clay doing?

Yeah I remember you Mark. We would be out there trying to impress the girls with our athletic abilities. That was a great neighborhood. We moved up behind Idlewood elementary. Not nearly as much fun. Where the heck are Tim Lester and Pat McGoff? We were like brothers back then.

Mark,
Thanks so much! Unfortunately, you have made the same assumption that alot of people have done over the years!
I knew Clay Blanchard, but, he is not my brother. We associated with some of the same people. So funny! But, no problem, because Clay was alot of fun and a very nice person to me always. I would be glad to be his little sister!

You are the closest thing to a brother that I have EVER had!!!! And I feel like I have taken some brotherly love or abuse (some of you know exactly what I am referring to!) when I was alot younger to prove it. And, we WILL NOT be posting any of the cute little nick names you like to use for me every once in awhile. Please TJ!!!!!!!!

Oops!
So sorry. How did I make that mistake? Did you grow up in the neighborhood, or did you simply know Clay?
Again, sorry to impute brotherhood.

OK... wasn't it you who mentioned Tori Matthews' brother...what's his name? Funny how I can remember Tori, but not her brother. You must have hung out around the 'hood some.

You guys are toooo funny! My HOOD, Your HOOD, many HOOD'S in between! You're making me feel really old! Matt was Tori's brother. A big guy, with the heart of a Teddy Bear. Tori married Eddie Morgan. Younger brother of Chuck Morgan. Matt's wife was named Sharon, and a real sweetheart! They had a little boy who was born ready to be a "LineBacker"! He was atleast 200% on his growth scale. I was so impressed with this baby! I am very embrassed , that I am not definite on his name. Max, can you help me out here?

John Harrington was class of 70. He was on varsity football and basketball, F.C.A. and letterman's Club. If you ever hear from him tell him about this site. It's great reading about the old neighborhoods!

I remember when Casey, Rick and Tom had the accident. That was another great loss (Tom). My bus went down McClendon to pick up kids going to Shamrock and looking at that tree was hard. I saw Rick at Emory hosp. sometime after the wreck walking down the tunnel; I think with a hosp. employee as part of therapy I guess. Chris Joiner used to date Tom. She lived in my neighborhood. (Montreal Woods Subdivision)not far from L'ville Hwy and 285. Memories.
