Re:Peckerhead of Pea Ridge - 2007/09/23 13:45
My family moved to Georgia from Virginia the summer of 72 and we rented a house located on the corner of Terri Lynn Court in Tucker which was just a stone's throw from Wilkes Market......and like the other kids on the street ( Johnny Hall, Tommy Henderson, Vicky and Johnny Smith, Ann Marie and Jim Carnahan, Kim and Lisa Cox, Eddie Luther , Kenny and David Hilliard) , I was soon making regular trips to Wilkes for Now-and- laters ,Pixy Stix ( the giant one that you inevitably "chugged" and then nearly choked to death on) , BB-Bats, Giant Sweetarts ( consume too quickly and your tongue would be numb) and so on.....and my mother raved about their meats ( back before red meat became a dirty word and before pork was called "the other white meat").....it was a great street to live on - lots of dodge ball, croquet( or the bastardized version - called Poison Ivy I think), tetherball, wiffle ball and my first encounter with that southern phenomenon known as the "pine cone" battle.... my friendship with the Coxes led to my playing ball a couple seasons at Glenlake.......Good times, Good Memories.......Lorraine
