Nov '69 SHS football game - 2008/07/04 22:54
On Thursday night Nov 13th, the night before our last season revenge game against Henderson, our team found a coffin in front of SHS. Henderson had put that there late that night. They had also sent us a letter saying we wouldn't win. Bill Smallwood and a few fellow dragons took the coffin back over to Henderson's campus around 1:00 A.M. The next morning we also sent them a blue wreath saying "With Our Sympathy" on the attached ribbon. W.Q.X.I. announced all of this on the radio that Friday morning! Sadly, even though we played hard, we lost that game 3 - 0. We still had a 6 - 4 season that year. I have the pep ribbon I wore to the game. It has a gold and white football at the top with one green and one white ribbon hanging at angles from it. The white ribbon has "Revenge" printed on it and the green one has "Go! Big Green".
