Jay Renfroe - 2007/08/12 13:53
Andie and I were remembering an old friend, Jay Renfroe, and I do love researching on the web, so here is what I've found so far. It looks like he's been able to accomplish pretty much what he always wanted.
Jay R. really had a talent and loved to do the TV type work. WSHS video was a favorite of his, and I got to tag along with him and a camera operator (probably Kirk Smethers) to one Braves game when Jay did an interview with Susie the ballgirl. (Photo in the '78 yearbook, if you doubt me!) I remember the planning and anticipation of that event for several Braves games in advance.
Jay went to Florida State, and we lost contact. I'm not sure if he studied television there or not.
I've just found his website - he and David Garfinkle are principal partners in "Renegade 83" production company, and he has been an executive producer, and worked in other positions for many years now. Renegade 83 currently is one of the production companies of "The 4400", in it's third season on USA network.
Renfroe also has been a co-producer/executive producer of the shows Blind Date, The Surreal Life, The Law Firm, Miracle Workers, and a number of others. He also has credits as writer, creator, music and director. Here is a link to a Yahoo page that documents at least some of his work.
