Bragging Time! - 2008/06/06 22:49

Just wanted to do some bragging on Maddie.... Last night was her final performance in Humble Swan Productions presentation of Disney's "High School Musical." (If you don't already know, that is a Disney movie that is the equivalent of the 70's movie Grease). Cast members were selected from over 400 people that auditioned from the Chattanooga area and the surrounding Tennessee and Georgia counties.

Maddie worked very hard since rehearsals began back in February. She has been putting in 20+ hours a week for rehearsals, as well as extra time actually helping build the set. They also performed at local restaurants and at the mall to promote ticket sales. IT WORKED!!! They did 12 performances at the local Colonnade Theater. The show sold out for every performance, the first time in history of that theater that a show has done that! The show did so well that they were invited to perform two shows at Chattanooga's Tivoli Theater. (For those of you in the Atlanta area, the Tivoli is the Chattanooga version of the Fox Theatre.) The Producer, Jonathan Humble, is just 21 years old, and is the youngest producer to ever present a show at the Tivoli since it opened back in the 1920s.

Below is a link of the Chattanooga ABC affiliate news channel that covered the story. They were doing a dress rehearsal for the show when the newsclip was recorded. You can see Maddie at 43 seconds into the video. She is wearing a pink, black, and white swirly looking shirt, and her hair is pulled back into a ponytail. She is to the right of the boy wearing the cap. You can see her again at the 1:30 mark of the video when they show the large group dancing onstage and again (barely) at the 1:40 mark from the side/back when the girl in the dark shirt steps back.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO proud of my Baby Girl! And I am so thrilled that she will have the memories from this wonderful time forever!

Ok...sorry, I'll stop now! I just can't help myself! Thank you for your indulgence!

Re:Bragging Time! - 2008/06/07 15:41 o.k. so proud but maybe not so proud of this generation....
First off---A.O.K. Swoozie! your daughter rocks! I saw the clip and she's a sweety.
second off---so, my baby graduated high school last Thursday. Dew I look old enough to have two high school graduates??? Anyway, as some you may have read on friday afternoon. He decided to have a impromptu TEEN party....what i believe the young folks call a rave...I offered my basement along with a kermit the frog table cloth, soda pop, streamers and balloon animals.
They took the pop and slammed the basement door.
Still in a festive mood (living vicariously) I screwed in my latest webfind into the downstairs bathroom faucet
