Hey, Bloodinc... - 2007/08/14 22:19 Yep, remember the football games in the neighborhood. It definitely got rough at times! Hugh was just one of the guys on the block, and an incredible guy. Played baseball with my brother, Paul, too. I remember form tackling drills in practice while I played, and it always seemed either Charles or Hugh sought me out. Always wanted to just point them to each other and get out of the way!

We were all playing baseball with the Walter Holtzman crowd one summer afternoon on the SHS field, and there was a collision between two guys. Both were lying on the ground and Hugh (who was then playing at UGA) walked up, looked it over and asked, "Did it draw blood?" There was none, so he just turned and walked back to first base. You kinda had to be there, but it was just hilarious with his dry wit and all.

I remember the day he passed away, just being blown away by it. I could tell his mom and dad were hurting so badly. Hard to understand why those things happen. Of the things I'll ask God when I get there, that is one of them.

Take care, Tom.

Re:Hey, Bloodinc... - 2007/08/14 22:42 Hi Mark.
I remember playing at Ira's house and your house and going to the creek. Telling mom Charles and I were not going and she letting our dog out to chase us and come home wet.
How are you and your family doing? We were very upset when they put in the house development in the woods behind out house on Doug's property.
What a grest place behind your house and our house. What a ge=reat place to grow up and experience boyhood only like we could back i the the 60's and 70's

Re:Hey, Bloodinc... - 2007/08/14 23:03 Tom, you bring back many memories, bud.

Remember throwing the beer cans on N Druid Hills Rd? I'm still not sure who hit the car with the can, but we ran as fast as we could down to your yard and started playing football. The guy cruised back through the neighborhood and recognized us by my GT football jersey. Man that just stunk!

Yeah, I knew as soon as Mr. Doug's house burned down that it was just a matter of time before they'd rip out the woods. How many forts do you think we built back there? Those woods went all the way from your back yard over to the back yard of Hugh's house. Awesome place to play.

Hey man, remember the aborigine tree? LOL! Pipe bombs across the creek blowing up manholes? Fishing in the creek in the summer when it got too hot to do anything else?

Dude, you're right. There was no better place to grow up as kids.

Sold the house last year after mom passed away. That was a sad day. The day of her memorial, Tommy Moon drove by. It was awesome to see him, too.

Those were the days, man. Hope you're doing well, Tom.
