Re:Goodbye Micheal - 2009/06/25 19:34
It's unreal that he's gone. I remember him when he was just a kid. ABC, 123, talking 'bout you and me. At DeKalb College I'd sit in the student center and they'd have the jukebox on(yes, they still had them back then) and The Jackson Five would be on there all the time! I had a chance to see him in concert/Atlanta in the early 80's but had to work late at Egleston. I do have the Thriller vinyl album I got back when it came out. It's hard to lose someone you watched grow up.

MJ, like Elvis, James Brown, the Osmond Brothers, to name just a few, was a product of the Baby Boomer culture. All musicians, but MJ will always remain the King of Pop.
I bet more than a few of you have at least one Michael Jackson song downloaded on your Ipod. But for those of you that found him offensive, you will be happy to know that he is decomposing.
RIP MJ

Sure, he dangled a baby and yes he did grab his crotch...but he gave this white girl a chance to dance and for that I am ever thankful. And remember, his mother loved him.

Re:Goodbye Micheal - 2009/06/29 19:34
Darn ! the open discussion has been closed. Micheal Jackson is an ICON. I can't imagine my life without his music. I have so many happy memories due to his undeniable talent. Not only that, Michael has influenced hundreds of new artists with his incredible talent. Everyone from Justin Timberlake to Beyonce to so many more. I choose to concentrate on that part of Michael. There was an innocence about him since he had no childhood and was severely abused by his dad that I think he wanted to re-live that in his latter years. His music touches me deeply and always will. It is not up to us to judge the man/boy. Little miss Grace should go back to the bible and re-learn not to judge. It is not her place...we all know who decides that. Micheal..I will always love you and believe that you were a good if not naive person. RIP...Aida

We watched Michael grow up. Even as a child he had a special ability and persona when performing. I loved to watch him dance! The night he did the moonwalk on stage for the first time was awesome! His music has spanned decades. I heard a Jackson family friend say on tv today that he wished Michael had been appreciated or realized when he was alive. To this statement I say, he was...his record sales prove it...Michael proved it.

Whatever any of us may have thought of Michael Jackson the person, he was, without a doubt, one of the greatest dancers, entertainers and performers in musical history.

"Tis true my form is something odd, But blaming me is blaming God. Could I create myself anew, I would not fail in pleasing you. If I could reach from pole to pole, Or grasp the ocean with a span, I would be measured by the soul, The mind's the standard of the man."

Re:Goodbye Micheal - 2009/07/01 14:59
It bothers me that so many jokes are flying across the internet about Michael Jackson. I'd rather not get jokes and other disrepestful things about MJ. I know he was weird, but he is somebody's son, somebody's brother, somebody's friend. I am not devastated by his death or anything, but it makes me sad that somebody that was so talented had to die at a relatively young age.
No, he was not my favorite entertainer, neither was Farrah, or Ed McMahon, but they are all Pop Culture icons from my youth, and I am saddened by their deaths. I am also annoyed that the news of their deaths overshadows the deaths of the soldiers that are serving our country. Are their names and faces plastered all over TV? NO...
I'm just sayin'....

And yet another one... Award-winning actor Karl Malden passed away on July 1st at his home in L.A. He was 97. Among many other credits to his name, Malden starred in "A Streetcar Named Desire" in '51 and also "The Streets of San Franciso".

Awwwww....shaddup, Clyde! LOL! I didn't say anything political or religious. I merely stated my opinion about the priorities of society! And besides, the facts are fully substantiated by my opinion! So bite me! LOL!
