Marching Band Anybody?? - 2009/01/24 18:11 Well as for me the good old days bring back lots of memories of the marching band. We had so much fun going to all the games and being a part of the half-time events. I played the clarinet and remember a guy named Kenny Green sat next to me. Spencer Hostetter was our band major and he was a senior when I was a freshman. I think the directors name was Mr. Gossett or something like that. I would love to hear from some of you. Re:Marching Band Anybody?? - 2009/01/24 21:14 Fay, you certainly haven't wasted any time writing posts! It's great! You've just jumped right in! Yes, the director of band was Mr. Stanley Goseer and Spencer was in my class. Now I know why you asked if my brothers were in the band. I didn't know you were til one of your most recent posts. Who else were you friends with in '70? I look forward to meeting you and sharing memories and my yearbooks.

Re:Marching Band Anybody?? - 2009/01/26 11:05 three things i remember about the shs marching band, no four....
Kitzie Lee the dragon was super cool!
They played two pieces I really liked. One was the theme to High Chapperal and the other wasn't.
I think i remember once when they formed the shape of a comb and made a funky hair style on the football field.
Mary Andrews was always so pretty out there.
Thants all I remember

Re:Marching Band Anybody?? - 2009/01/26 12:39 I loved playing "Get It On" by Chase and "The Horse" by Cliff Nobles (?) the best. I was up in the stands hanging out with Bob Griggs, Frank Mashburn, and Tammy Pogue. The comb and hair may have been the Theme from Shaft. I played the high hats on that one. Kitzie was a good friend and looked so cute in the green sequen dragon suit. and YES....Mary Andrews was stunning!!! "Get busy livin' or get busy dyin"

Re:Marching Band Anybody?? - 2009/01/26 15:27 BadMonkey, you're not bad at all! Thanks for reminding me of "The Horse". That does take me back to my teenage years in the stands.

Re:Marching Band Anybody?? - 2009/01/26 20:29 OK, I have to comment on this one.
I love music and attemp to play some instruments.
But in the spring of '78 my family moved into the house down at the dead end of Delcourt. The Drum Major is lucky that I didn't get my Crossman 760 pellet gut and nail him for practicing the same song over and over after school. Thank goodness that Speed Racer, Ultra Man and Star Trek were still on TV around that time...or was it Pasword.....I don't know.....all you Marching Band people are just lucky I had lots of friends on your squad. Of course I did get my revenge in the summer of "78......See the last streak of the seventies forum if you don't know.

Re:Marching Band Anybody?? - 2009/01/26 20:56 Jeff,
You do remember that I was at one time in the marching band as well, right?

Be careful of where you aim that pellet gun, mister!
