Both Clark and Steve Early used to camp out on the section of 78 near where it eventually crossed under Montreal Rd. That was just around the corner from Plantation Skating Rink on one side of the bridge and our neighborhood on the other side. Hwy 78 was behind Plantation Rink. My brothers took their sleeping bags out there to what is now the highway. Steve still has his and still uses it to lie on when working on his Z. I think that Doug Wilson may have camped out with them.
My dad tried to teach me how to drive a stick shift on 78 before it opened up to traffic. I never did learn to master that and stick to automatics.
