Old Yearbook Info - 2009/02/10 01:26 For any of you looking for old Annuals I found the publisher of the 69 Emerald. It was the AMERICAN YEARBOOK CO. in Hannibal, Missouri. The name was on the last page and the print was really small. That co. may have published more of them for us. Dragons that were on the Annual Staff may be able to help us out with info. In 70 the dragons were Vickie Joiner (she's on classmates.com), Tina Carlson, Ken Rowley, Nancy Davis and among others, Mary Ruth Cook. Mrs. Rogers the English teacher was the sponser. Carol Davis in on this site. I'll have to send her a msg to ask her to check with her sister, Nancy.
For those that still have their yearbooks you can look for any publisher marks and maybe get the names of any dragons on the Annual Staff for the various years and list them in a post. Some of us may still be in contact with one or more of them. I've only found that one publisher but will look again in the annuals I have.
Hopefully, this search and additional info will enable us to again own some of these missing books from our past.

Laurie

There's a connection between American Yearbook and Josten's Inc.
I didnt get a chance to research it further.

Re:Old Yearbook Info - 2009/02/10 18:53 i went to jostens.com and the site explains that they dont have the rights to produce the yearbook that it has to come from the school. if you go to the site it explains it a little more in depth. i would love to be able to get another yearbook so if you find out anywhere else i would be very interested. thanks for your searching.

Re:Old Yearbook Info - 2009/02/10 23:07 That sounds like a dead-end since Shamrock High School is no more. I have another idea and will pursue that and let you know if I'm successful.

Re:Old Yearbook Info - 2009/02/11 10:23 Yearbooks
From: Michael Durham, Dragon 1970
Copy to: Susie(Martin)Bowman
Anyone want CD copies of yearbooks then read letter below. I found this company on-line but we need at least 20 members minimum. This company will reproduce old yearbooks to CD's!!!

Hey Susie! I have been trying to find copies on-line of old Shamrock yearbooks. I threw mine out(dumb)over 20 years ago. I had '67-'70 Shamrock yearbooks. But I did get a response from one company that will reproduce to a CD any yearbooks if Shamrock members of this site want to buy copies. The company needs a minimum of 20 orders. Do you want to print this out to the main page? Send me your email address so I can foward the letter to you. Copied and pasted below, part of it.
Later,
Mike

Hello Michael,
Thank you for your note and for your interest in My Old YearbookTM CD.

The way we work is that we offer My Old YearbookTM CD through a third party. In most cases this "party" is either someone on your reunion committee or a professional reunion planner. Collectively we refer to them as a "planner".

If a yearbook is in our library, we direct individuals to their planner. You place your order with the planner and the planner then places orders with us and we (usually) ship directly to the alumni. If a yearbook is NOT in our library, then it must be built. In order to build a volume a planner places an order with us for a minimum quantity of 20 CDs and makes them available to alumni.

My Old YearbookTM CD costs $29.95 + $5.25 s/h to alumni.

While we have a pretty extensive library, I am sorry to say that we do not have the volume you have requested on CD at this time, but it's pretty easy to do, and we would LOVE to add your volume to our library. If you are what may be considered a central contact point for your classmates or if you are interested in making this volume available to your classmates yourself, please let me know and I will send information to you about My Old YearbookTM CD and how you can make it available to your classmates.

If you are an individual alumnus inquiring about My Old YearbookTM CD, we encourage you to contact someone from your reunion committee and let them know about our service and that you would like to have your yearbook on CD. If you do not know who your reunion committee members are, you may have luck locating information on one of the alumni services such as classmates dot com. When they contact us we will offer them the opportunity to make this distinctive and memorable keepsake available to your entire class and help offset some of the costs incurred in planning a reunion.

I hope this information is helpful and once again, thank you for your interest in My Old Yearbook™ CD.

Regards,
Liz Jenkins

Re:Old Yearbook Info - 2009/02/11 13:32 thanks for the response taterhead3010! That makes two of us that want old yearbooks again! So many of us loose those memories to fires and other such reasons. They are almost impossible to find on-line, especially since there is no longer a Shamrock High. Most publishers I contacted were no longer in buisness or said they do not archive any copies, all go out to buyers only, the end. I am hoping to get enough people to join up so we can copy yearbooks from some of our friends on this site. Hey, I was also in two branches of the military boomer! I was in the Army during Vietnam war from 1971-1973. Graduated Shamrock in 1970. Then re-enlisted in the US Navy 1977-1981(peacetime then)!
Thanks for serving the country my friend! All of us Vets should be proud of the service we gave to keep America strong!

Re:Old Yearbook Info - 2009/02/11 14:02 THANKS MIKE. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR SERVING AS WELL. LOOKS LIKE WE WERE BOTH IN AT THE SAME TIME. I WENT IN THE AIR FORCE IN JUNE 1972 VIET NAM WAS STILL GOING ON UNTIL JAN OF 1973. I GOT OUT OF THE AIR FORCE IN JULY 1976 AND WENT IN THE NAVY IN FEB OF 1977 UNTIL I RETIRED FROM THE MILITARY IN FEB 1993. I DONT KNOW IF YOU REMEMBER ME OR NOT BUT I REMEMBER YOU I THINK. IM NOT SURE AND I APOLOGIZE IF IM WRONG BUT WE WERE YOUNGER THEN IT SEEMS FOR SOME REASON I REMEMBER YOU WERE IN A FIGHT AFTER SCHOOL ONE DAY WITH SOME GUY WHOS NAME WAS SOMETHING LIKE JEFF FAHEY, DON'T WANT TO BRING UP A BAD MEMORY BUT FOR SOME REASON THAT STUCK IN MY MIND. I COULD BE WRONG AND APOLOGIZE IF I HAVE YOU MIXED UP WITH SOMEONE ELSE. ANYWAY THANKS FOR DOING THE RESEARCH FOR THE YEARBOOK AND BRINGING UP SOME MEMORIES OF YESTERYEAR. I LIVE IN ILLINOIS RIGHT NOW AND IF WE HAVE A CLASS REUNION IM HOPING TO ATTEND. IM THE ONE WHO TOLD YOUR SISTER ABOUT THIS SITE AND I GUESS SHE TOLD YOU. I FOUND OUT FROM JAN (FORD) WOODS. IM VERY GRATEFUL THAT WE CAN RECONNECT WITH OLD HIGH SCHOOL CLASSMATE. TAKE CARE AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

Re:Old Yearbook Info - 2009/02/11 22:29 GREAT JOB, MIKE!!! If there is enough interest in getting old yearbooks, I will be glad to head this up unless YOU want to, Mike!

Let's keep this one at the top for awhile to see if there is any interest...

Re:Old Yearbook Info - 2009/02/11 23:00 Hello Cheif Bailey,
I hope you will let me call you Rick! My sister Fay told me that you directed her to this site, and now I have connected to you. I was an Aviation Electronics Technician in the Navy. Petty Officer 2nd class by the end of my 4 years in the Navy. I don't think I had the pleasure of meeting you unless it was during my advanced training in '77-'78 at my "A" school NAS Memphis,TN. But that was so many years ago and there were over a thousand or more students in Memphis. I was stationed on permanent duty at NAS Pensacola in sunny Florida! Home of the "Blue Angels". I worked in an AIMD hangar across the street from the Blue Angels hangar. I was in Pensacola to the end of my 4 year contract. I did work on ships but only while they were in port. I was extremely lucky in that respect! Do not like "gray and underway", way too much hard work!
I have extreme respect for your obtaining the rank of Cheif and your 20 years of service - that is just outstanding! You must be extremely proud of your service!
I was in Shamrock's class of '70 so you were a junior when I graduated. I really wish I had a yearbook, I think we may have known each other in high school but your name doesn't sound a bell for me. But now I am 56 and my memory is surely not as it was, I lost that along with my military bearing years ago! Ha! Ha! I just joined the site this week and need to update my Bio, add pictures, and meet as many old friends as possible. It is fun being a part of this site, it makes you feel young again - right? So many other sites want to charge monthly fees.
The yearbook CD's sound like a very good deal, you can zoom in/out on pictures, make copies with your PC, sounds like a fun project. I hope with Susie's help we can get this project underway!
I will write more later.
Mike

Re:Old Yearbook Info - 2009/02/11 23:37 THANKS AGAIN MIKE. I WAS STATIONED ON THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER U.S.S. AMERICA CV-66. I WORKED IN THE AIR DEPARTMENT. BEING AN AVIATION BOATSWAIN MATE I WORKED IN THE FUELS ASPECT. I HAVE BEEN ON MANY DEPLOYMENTS WITH THE SHIP SO I HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO VISIT A LOT OF PLACES. SO WE WERE OVER THERE AND WERE LAUNCHING AND RECOVERING AIRCRAFT ON THE FLIGHT DECK AND THE PLANES WERE BOMBING IRAQ. THAT WAS WHEN IRAQ HAD INVADED KUWAIT. WE WORKED 18 TO 20 HOURS A DAY SEVEN DAYS A WEEK. ONE TIME I HAD TO STAY UP FOR FIVE DAYS STRAIGHT. I DON'T KNOW HOW I SURVIVED THAT. WELL ANYWAY NICE TO RUN INTO YOU AGAIN.
