Re:Laurel Ridge - 2007/09/27 14:22 My Daddy was taking a walk the other day and saw the kiddies out playing on the field. There was a teacher ( a substitute) standing guard. He had a chat with her and lo and behold...it turned out to be Mrs. ELDER!! And when he said his last name was Fletcher...she said, "Lordy, I remember your girls!!" He said she looked like she was about 35 years old.

Re:Laurel Ridge - 2007/09/27 21:52 Mrs. King? Poor thing. I gave her apoplexy. And noone knew(haha). How about Mrs Saxon for geography and history? All I can remember about her was she had the pointiest elbows, and had a hard time with the Indian names like Sacajawea. I think she said Sack-a-jay-wee one time, and never the same way twice.

Mrs. Shuler for science. She was a sweet lady. But my homeroom teacher....Mrs. Ingwerson. My first may-december fantasy romance. Ahhhhhhhh, now thats a memory.

Hey, anyone from my homeroom remember the Tobin Tabernacle Choir? And what was our big hit? Hmmm?

Re:Laurel Ridge - 2007/09/27 22:13 Kevin,
Thought you'd want to know that Mrs. Shuler is still a sweet lady. She will be 75 in Oct. though she probably seemed old even back then(she's just one of those people). My sister, Lynne White Menard, also on this site, was married to her son, David, for 20 years so she's my nieces' grandmother. I recruited her to come to the school where I worked to mentor students and she did it for years until the program ended last year. She is a truly nice lady and is very active with her soroity and her travels.

I was having lunch yesterday in Forest Park at Ann & Bill's and looked up to see a gray-haired black man busing tables....and he had the same large bump on his head as Ed at Laurel Ridge!!

I asked him if he ever worked at L.R. back in the 60s and he said he didn't. But whoa....I thought it was Ed and I was gonna have to invite him to the reunion!
