Re:the day they moved the house down Lawrenceville hw - 2009/03/25 14:27 Julie, best I can recall, that house was coming from the west and headed toward the east -- but where it came from and where it went after that, who can say? I do remember that we all got away with running to the window to watch!

I've seen one or two houses being moved since then, and it always brings back that memory...a pretty big event...I guess it doesn't really happen often, huh?

Re:the day they moved the house down Lawrenceville hw - 2009/03/25 20:54 Do you remember the OLD house right next to the Jim Wallace gas Station? They fixed it up real nice and turned it into a realitors office. I remember it being painted a dark color and it was two stories. I thought that was the house they moved but I thought it was coming from the direction of Rehoboth Presbetarian towards Shamrock plaza....my directions are very broad, sorry.

Re:the day they moved the house down Lawrenceville hw - 2009/03/25 22:19 That little house was a remodeling -- I remember being totally awed by how they took a little tarpaper shack and turned it into a cute little Williamsburg-type cape...

It had a deep cream paint with brown trim and a cedar-shake roof...

Can you date that house move? I bet those little guys in the back wing missed that altogether...and so did the ones in the classrooms across the hall...'66? '67? '68?

Re:the day they moved the house down Lawrenceville hw - 2009/03/26 10:35 Well, Gail---Let's see.....I went 1st through 7th grade there and I remember seeing it from my classroom.

As amatter of FACT, I was sitting right next to Renee Faulkner when I saw A HOUSE rolling down Lawrenceville Highway!!!

I couldn't have been any older than third grade when it happened. I still remember the pictures i drew on the front of my "Think & Do" book.

Oh! MAn! Remember Weekly Readers???

but i digress....
