To display a picture within a post you must resize it to 300 pixels or smaller. And only one picture at a time can be displayed per post.
If you would like to show several pictures, you may do so in the File Library over on the left side of the page. There you can create a photo album and post several pictures up to 800 pixels each.
Most photos from a digital camera will be wider than this, so they must be resized. If you do not have (or are not proficient with) an image editor application, you can go to http://www.resize2mail.com/ to resize your photos online. It's easy!
