been awhile since i last posted , but this thread is like , my teething ring ! lol ! i attended my first drag race in '74 , at dixie dragway . back then 'the pits'were just a pull-off in the dirt for most drivers ,vip's had some pavement or a little concrete . anyway , we were strolling around the pits , with our plastic gallon milk jug of hamms draft , and stopped to watch a team replacing a manifold . it was pretty banged up , with peeling blue paint , and i turned to my future x-husband and said "yours is prettier than that ! " the man kinda scowled as he looked up , then smiled when he saw the look of horror on my boyfriends face , then started laughing ! you see , the day before , i had watched as my x put a brand new edlebrock(? ) intake on his 427 2-door chevelle ss,and the man i insulted was none other than 1/2 of the famed sox and martin duo ! after that , every time i saw mr.randy sox , he chided me about that day ! and any one remember the apple orchard next to commerce where the die- hards camped for 3 days and partied !?
