Re:Smoking - 2008/10/26 15:38 Great Job Mona!!!
Weight gain is just temporary ..Don't worry..

Cycling around St Mountain, thats a work out in itself.
Do you bike from your house to St Mtn?

We go to Social Circle and bike the back roads, no traffic, rolling hills and fresh air..Let me know if you're interested and I can send you some maps..

Keep at it!!

Doug

Thus as an analogy for quitting smoking - run through the rainy bits, mind the potholes and keep your eye on the road ahead, and you'll reach your goal.

Re:Smoking - 2008/10/26 17:39 After twenty PLUS years as a Smoker (I started experimenting in 5th grade) I only tried to STOP once before when I had Pneumonia and only did STOP after the Birth of My son. I celebrate his Birthday with my Stopping. So for me almost 11 1/2 years. I've always have said I think one thing that helped me that I was just so busy with the Baby. So my advice is to find something else to occupy your time when you get one of the urges. (hopefully a GOOD thing) Walking sewing scrapbooking even cleaning. Just something that keeps to busy.

Re:Smoking - 2008/11/14 08:10 I am embarrassed to say that I blew it big time yesterday. I went through a lot of emotional upset and my nerves were on end. I was trying to work and I was very shaky. So, I did smoke 4 cigarettes to try and calm myself down. I know I am a wimp. I am going to get back on the Chantix. I would have never stopped without it anyway. I feel that it is crucial to be honest here sense I decided to get involved in this forum.
Mona, I hope that you are still doing well. I am sorry I let myself, you, and others down.

Re:Smoking - 2008/11/14 08:29 This is a new day! I am sure that I speak for everyone when I say that we all still love you and believe that you can quit. If it were so easy to do, I would be doing it too...

Re:Smoking - 2008/11/14 17:35 Hey Robin,
Don't be so hard on yourself. Look how far you've come. At least you're on the right path. I'm still lost in the woods somewhere! Love ya.

Re:Smoking - 2008/11/30 20:28 Today makes 3 smoke-free months!!

Thank you, Robin! Without you having set the target date, I’d have never quit. I do hope you’ve climbed back on board (or at least set a new target date)! If I can do this, you can do this! Heck, if I can do this, the rest of you (and you know who you are) can do this, too! The more the merrier!

I’d like to give some perspective that everyone can understand -- MONEY.

- 30 cigs x 90 days = 2700 cigarettes (I'd have smoked 2700 cigarettes in 3 months! )

- 2700 cigs x 15¢ per cig = $405.00

By August 30, 2009 I will have saved $1620.00 …. Now that’s quite a tax-free cost-of-living raise don't you think?

Everyone's continued enthusiastic support is truly appreciated - more than you can imagine! I'm not done with this project by any means, but I really feel good about where I've gotten so far!

Happy holidays and love to all!

Re:Smoking - 2008/12/01 10:53 Well Mona, I am so proud of you. I am struggling right now. I do pretty well though, until I see my friend that smokes and I will get one off of her. I am back on the Chantix though. I will do this. I am just at a weak point right now. I have to stay busy. I did last about 3 months without smoking. I just hate the Holidays. I just got hit pretty hard emotionally recently.(Kids), matters of the heart, stuff like that. I will be fine. I always am.
