Coach Ramos - Update From the Ramos Family - 2009/07/24 13:47
On Friday morning, July 24, Coach Ramos suffered a massive stroke. He passed peacefully at 11:15 am, ascended into glory joining my mom, the love of his life, in eternal peace.
I want to extend my deepest thanks for all of your support and words of encouragement during these past few weeks. The memories you shared when you visited my father were the greatest gifts he could have received. That personal time made these two weeks joyful. Thank you.
Our family will be communicating arrangements during the next few days. Thank you and God bless you.

Dear Mike, Cookie, and Rocky,
Your dad was a man of faith and strength who influenced so many young people in his lifetime. You can be tremendously proud of the legacy he left with his Dragon family.
As a fellow educator, one of my goals is to leave a positive impact on my students' lives. Although your dad and I never had a discussion about our educational philosophies, his was very plain in his words and actions, and was something that he did instinctively. His philosophy is carried on by the students he knew during his career who are now teachers, and there are a bunch of us.
Your parents have left you and many of us with abundant blessings. We are all better for having known them.
Alan and I will see you at the service. Love and hugs, Andie

Re:Coach Ramos - Update From the Ramos Family - 2009/07/24 16:51
There is no way for me to convey the emotions I have for Coach, Mike, Cookie and Rocky. I started to get an idea of what the Ramos family means to me and my family when Mrs. Ramos fell ill and battled her sickness. Upon her death, I came to realize just some of the impact this family had upon me.
Coach (along with my "real" dad), taught me how to be a man. To be strong, dependable, head of my household and love my wife, my children and my friends as a Christian man should. To give and honor my word and to help those in need.
Attending Shamrock I noticed how Mike was not only a athlete, but a highly intelligent "jock" as well. You always had a smile and great sense of humor. Even to this day.
Cookie is the creative one who cares about people and has that million dollar smile.
And Rocky....well Rocky was my "trench" brother of Taggart's Hawgs. We would bang on each other at practice and joke and have a good time after.
So many lessons and memories from a man who loved me and my brother like sons. What a gift God gave me in Coach Ramos. And what a great gift God gave Coach Ramos and his sons to have so many people he molded be able to tell him that personally and not after the fact.
I will always remember him.

The Fink Family (Bob, Karl, Eric and Lynn) send their heartful love and blessings during this time. Coach Ramos ALWAYS made us feel like we could accomplish anything. I was proud to tell him that I taught at Shamrock Middle School for 10 years. I will miss his beaming smile, but I know heaven is a brighter place today.
Love and prayers to the entire Ramos family!

Coach Ramos and I were never very close in my high school days. After all I was a NUT! But, I did always admire his straight talk, his ability to see past the "stupidness" of youth and give you pointers that really never hit you till later in life, and then you get that "oh so that's what he was talking about" feeling.
I guess, like Andie said, we all wish we could have that kind of impact on someone.
The coach was truly one of a kind, and he will be missed greatly. But, He is now with Hope, and in no pain, and that is great!
Mike, Rocky and Cookie, Thanks for sharing your Dad with us! God Bless you all.

Rocky, Mike, Cookie, Your daddy was a man of great influence, as you can easily see. What a blessing to have been raised by the hand of a man who knew the value of character and lived what he taught. I know his words of wisdom will live on in you and your children and grandchildren. I pray his memory will bring you joy. I know for so many people, he was one of the reasons their memories of youth are so fondly remembered. Bless you and I pray your grief is eased by knowing how loved your daddy was and still is.
