Saturday Mystery Lunch Bunch - 2010/02/05 23:45
I'm going to call Mellow Mushroom in Snellville and hopefully talk to Barbie Rosselle and let her know that some Dragons will be coming her way on Sat. Feb. 20th!

When I googled mellow mushroom in snellville, it said it has closed. Does anyone know if that's true? I was planning that as a Sat. Mystery Lunch but now I don't know. S.O.S.

That would be sad news if true. And it would be a good idea to know they're still open before setting up a lunch...it's pretty disconcerting to meet at a closed restaurant, right Robin?

Laurie, you are spreading Internet rumours! 
The telephone is still such wonderful technology -- I just looked them up in the book and gave them a call...yup -- they are over there right now baking pizzas! 
Barbie's Mellow Mushroom in Snellville, as well as quite a few others, are not "Corporate", or, in other words, are independently owned stores. It's a family biz -- her brother owns the MM on Hwy 78 near St Mtn, as well as the number one best seller, Asheville's downtown corner location -- it's complete with a super large patio for some excellent people-watching. 
And Laurie -- Mellow Mushroom in Snellville (an old Pizza Hut) has seating for something like 200 folks...there will be no need for reservations for a Saturday lunch. I'm still embarrassed about the night Barbie reserved a whole section and called in extra help to wait on us, and only 5 people showed up... She works Friday and Saturday nights and most likely will be taking a break during Saturday lunch. 
BTW -- Friday nights you can find George Rosselle hanging out watching Barbie work -- stop by and have a beer with George! No problem picking him out in the crowd -- he looks pretty much the same now as he did in 1972, just a little grayer.

I called Mellow Mushroom just now to talk to Barbie. She wasn't there but I'll call back around noon tomorrow. I'll tell her that a few dragons will be there on Saturday and maybe her husband dragon George Rosselle can meet us there!

Same goes for the rest of you guys! Another chilly weekend ahead of us -- let's get together for pizza and beer, whatchasay? 
Of course, we're bound to come home and take a nap in front of the fire!

I did talk to Barbie and she gave me George's #. I called him and we talked for at least 30 mins about SHS, DRAGONS, etc. He will be there for lunch tomorrow! So if any of you can make it, come on!

Those that made it to lunch today were George Rosselle, Steve Early, Fay Durham, Gail and Hank Cobleigh, Demetrios Pappas, his cute daughter Alex and her cute sister Emily and me. Ricky Miles/71 was also there. I hadn't seen him in 40 years!

I can't believe it's been almost a week since Saturday, and I still haven't gotten to tell ya'll just how great lunch was...
Laurie left Tommy Jacobs off the list -- he arrived early and left to attend a funeral, then stopped in later. Robert Head came out again, too. Also, I have to point out that my husband's name is Hank Cobleigh...Hullings is my maiden name!
We spotted the red and black Chevelle as soon as we pulled in to the Mellow Mushroom-- just knew it was somebody from Shamrock, and sure enough, the car belonged to Steve Early.
We were all making the most of Barbie's cuisine when a hot 1969 Shelby pulled up out front. Steve sat up and said "hey -- maybe he wants to race!". The fellow driving it came in and passed by our table on the way to the back, and we let him know we were admiring his hot ride. Few moments later, the fellow came back around the corner and said "Are ya'll from Shamrock?" (I guess Ricky wasn't expecting us to have a couple of little girls sipping Cokes along.) 
Ricky was born and raised in Pea Ridge, and went to school with my brother Jack. He's out in Walnut Grove these days. We had a great time talking about the old folks in the old neighborhood...and when I have a bit more time I'm gonna tell ya'll a thing or two I learned that day. 
That Shelby smelled like 1969. Doggone it! why didn't I beg a ride...?

Gail---Great account of the going's on...Can we do a "do over"? I mean my two faves--Chevelle and a "stang"...I'm in. Won't you like come up to G-ville or there about (Cumming) for an affair. I'll run up to Wilkes for some meat, remember they used to be down there in Decaturland? Now they are in Forsyth County. Love to love ya baby,E
