Rehoboth - 2007/10/07 05:20
People that have pictures and stories regarding Rehoboth Elementary put them here. Don't forget Coach East, Mr. Clayton, I'm sure you have some stories about them. In first grade I had Miss Brown, I threw up on her..we played seven up..my favorite. Second grade, I had Mrs. Krause..we learned about the birds of the U.S. and I really took that in. I still know my birds. In 3rd grade I had Mrs. Dresden, thank GOD because if I was in one of the other classes I would have been held back. The whole class was held back because the teacher didnt do her job. Good for her I forgot her name. In fourth grade I had Mrs. Richmond, Martha Thorne was my best friend that year and thats the year Karen Fortner moved into my neighborhood and because one of my best friends. In fifth grade I had Miss Kearney. That year we collected the most green stamps (I think) and won a trip to see "THE TEN COMMANDMENTS" I loved that movie..and I will always remember that. I still have the christmas ornament the teacher handed out at christmas. She was a great teacher. In 6th Grade I had Mrs. White. I cant remember much about her. And in 7th grade I cant remember my teacher...all I can remember is Mr. Clayton. He was scary..catching me not paying attention and then calling on me to answer questions..How dare him. Coach East was great but he almost killed me running around the field. Brian McCorkle was the fastest. I was skinny an energetic and that running almost killed me, I couldnt imagine how the people felt that were out of shape. In dodge ball, I was the scorekeeper because I would yell out the score every timeit changed because I didnt play well. I had to do something right. I dont have much to say about the principal, he was just there..he didnt cause me any stress...that would be Mr. Aldridge. How about Brownies and Girl scouts at Jeanne Stephens house, our trip to the capital and stone mountain. Later I was in Mary Beth Edwards' troup. Remember 3rd grade when in music class we made our own record..it was excerpts of different songs edited and made into one big song. Does anyone remember the songs that we sang in class like, my favorite "Soldier, Soldier, won't you marry Me" and "Senior Don Gato was a Cat on a high red roof Don Gato sat????". Remember Mrs. Vet as one of our lunchroom ladies. Remember the year someone thought they found a spider in the spinach and the whole class boycotted the lunch road so we had to be lectured by the principal on how it was hurting them with their funds. BUT WE DIDNT CARE...lol..we were so powerful to be so young.
TELL ME MORE...maybe I can think of more.

Re:Rehoboth - 2007/10/07 10:31
I had the pleasure of attending Rehoboth for 7th grade. My classmates were Patrice Frazier, Julie Swords, Dani VanGundy,James Phagan, Don Toole,Keith Cofer, and My best friend in the world Robyn Nicholson.I also remember Marie Wilson because she could really swing a mean baseball bat, I was pitching in our game on the lower field (because the girls always got the lower field to play ball seeing as how couch East thought it was small for the guys to play on)when Marie hit that ball so hard I only had time to raise my glove to my face which then slammed into my nose which then knocked me flat on my you know what.I also remember playing alot of soccer on the asphalt, Yvonne Fambro was really good and competative, I also remember loving her hair, she had this beautiful natural white streak on the side and she was always trying to hide it. Julie Swords and I used to sneak into a backyard next to the field during PE and pick the most delicious plums from a small orchard. I think Mr. Clayton's sing cadence sing from his OLD GRADY SAYS march will be forever in my brain. He had us march and do this game of simon says except it was changed to old grady says until the last one was standing, sometimes we marched what seemed like forever. I really think his mind stayed in the war because he always talked about it and even had flags and letters that he said he removed from dead enemy soldiers. Some of us figured out how to climb on top of that school (I'll leave those names out)where we would just kick back and hang out. I have our graduation photo and some PE pics and will try to up load them When I can get this new computer of mine to recognize that it does have a scanner.

Re:Rehoboth - 2007/10/07 18:21
Dickie Hayes and Derek "Wiggy" Wiggins were the GODS of show n tell! Then there was Trey King, who was so mean! Once, Donna Chewning and I were kicking a bunch of stacked tires and he jumped out from the center --honest, we didn't know he was in there--and said he was gonna kill us. I was scared to go back to school until my brother gave me a genuine indian tomahawk to defend myself. I confidently went to school the next morning looking like sakajawea on speed until Mrs. Maybe saw my weapon and sent me directly to Mr. Aldredge's office for a meeting. It wasn't my first "meeting" with my pal the principal. Remember Mrs. Carswell and how she LOVED Tom Jones? I remember one thing about Mrs. White and something that happened to the "Think and Do books" but that's a bad story. Remember the carnivals at Rehoboth? Those were awesome and when Knock-a-homa would visit every year. Remember Mr. Nikerk and who was the third grade teacher who loved curious George books? I loved Ol' Grady says! Memories...

Speaking of Show and Tell. At Rehoboth,in my 3rd grade class, there was a girl named Lena, and she had told me that she had something for show in tell. All I could see was that she was holding a tissue. Well, she got up in front of the class and had that tissue and opened it up and said, "This is the piece of cardboard that I had stuck up in my nose. When she sat back in her set, I remember that we all gathered around her to look at the cardboard, like it was really something to see.

I read this yesterday and thought for along while how to reply TREY KING is my brother and I am so sorry he was mean to other people besides me. I thought we had the normal stuff other siblings go through. As I look back He was a rascal. So please accept an apology from me on his behalf. He has his hands full now with his two sons. Must be Karma.

The Battle of Okinawa, also known as Operation Iceberg, was fought on the Japanese island of Okinawa and was the largest amphibious assault in the Pacific Theater of World War II.[1][2] The 82 day battle lasted from late March through June 1945.

Re:Rehoboth - 2008/06/10 22:35
I still remember many of those people from Rehoboth. The secretary Mrs. Knopkee?? She was so mean when I was a safety patrol and had to go to her office to play the national anthem over the intercome system. I was so scared of her. Most teachers who had my brothers Danny, Steve or John were really nice to me. But the teachers who had Joel only two years before me were not so nice. I remember: 2nd grade - Mrs Krause 3rd grade - Miss Saunders (she had the best handwriting) 4th grade - Mrs. Williams and Ms. Chisholm 5th grade - Mrs. June Murphy (the best teacher of all my educational years anywhere) 6th grade - Mrs June Murphy (she moved up that year) 7th grade - Mr. Clayton (who else, right?? - he had Joel.) My luck
