Pea Ridge - 2007/08/07 13:02 Anybody else remember Pea Ridge?
I was never exactly sure why, but a certain section of Decatur was known as Pea Ridge.
( maybe all the beer that we drank there, but that is pure speculation)
The folks that lived there called themselves PeaRidgers,
I remember Paul Traylor, The Coffers, Clacks, Phagans, Terry Yon, Pecker Head,
(sorry,I assume your parents must have given you a real name but all I can remember is Pecker head.)
Anyone still around?

Re:Pea Ridge - 2007/08/07 14:01 It is still called Pea Ridge...lol...I guess it will always be to that generation. The Clacks, I know, are still around...Terry Yon passed away not too long ago, not sure about pecker head...i remember the name but can't remember which one of them went with it...there were so many nick names....my husband always refers to himself as being brought up in Pea Ridge!

Re:Pea Ridge - 2007/08/07 15:29 What happened to Terry? Funny I had not thought of him in years, but He was on my mind a lot a few months ago. "Don't complain about getting older, so many people never get the opportunity" unknown

Re:Pea Ridge - 2007/08/07 16:15 I believe it has been called PeaRidge forever! HA HA
My mother said she has known it as Pea Ridge her entire life. She knew the Clacks that lived on Frazier Rd.

I would like to hook up with anyone from the Skating Rink - Plantation. Donna Spurling and I have been talking about trying to get a reunion together of fellow skaters.

I married Joey Dodd(from Plantation Skating Rink) and had a son by him, that turned 25 yesterday by the way.

Looking forward to talking to anyone.

Re:Pea Ridge - 2007/08/07 20:48 Omigosh! I used to go skating at Plantation all the time. I was a skating fool! Remember Bozo (I think his real name was Roger) that managed the place? He was a horse's butt, but he played good music!

Re:Pea Ridge - 2007/08/08 08:40 I have great memories of Plantation Skating Center. I worked there from the time I was 16 until I finished HS. It is amazing all of the people you used to see every Friday and Saturday night, that I have No clue what happened to them. Susie, I remeber you, I think that we were in homeroom together. By the way you are correct,Bozo's name was Roger. Those were the days. All Night skates and contest's.

Re:Pea Ridge - 2007/08/08 09:11 According to my husband, a man named Harelson, called Hog Head, used to own the Gulf Station across from Rehoboth Pharmacy. Back in the 40's-50's he had a bus ticket from New York to Pea Ridge that he kept framed in the station. Pea Ridge because the property behind the Gulf station, which was also a bus drop off, and get this, had a ridge with peas growing, which is how it got the name.

Re:Pea Ridge - 2007/08/08 23:42 I remember Harrelson, aka the Mayor of Pea Ridge...always had a cigar. Remember Jerry, the guy who had the body shop on the opposite corner? There was a mechanic under the body shop...don't remember the name, but Eber Kennedy worked there. My dad always did business with them, and they always referred to the area as Pea Ridge.

The Yons lived on the hill directly behind the Gulf Station, right next to the elementary school. First house was the grandmother's, and then they built another home on the same lot. Van Yon graduated in 1980 with my brother, Bill.

Yes, we were in HR together, I can even tell you where you sat in the mornings. I remember you working at Plantation, skating around with your whistle around your neck! Hahaha!

Those WERE the days!! Good to hear from you!

Re:Pea Ridge - 2010/04/15 10:03 Mighty Moderator/Susie dear, do you think you could do that magical thing with these old threads I pulled out...where you take the pieces and put them all together, in one place?
