Class of 1980 - 2007/07/28 02:40 Hello All!

I was known at SHS as Susie Martin. I graduated from SHS in 1980. Being (sort of) grown up and married, I now am called Susan. I still prefer being called Susie though! I married a Tennessee country boy (NOT redneck) and we live in Ringgold, GA. We have a 14 year old daughter who started high school this year. How scary! We are fortunate enough to have my Mama live with us.

I have four older brothers, three of whom graduated from SHS: Mark Martin ('72), Bud Martin ('77), Brian Martin ('78). My oldest brother, Ron, graduated from Clarkston HS because Shamrock wasn't open yet! All of them are happily married and living not too far away.

Having older siblings, I knew of sooooo many of the 70's decade students. I doubt many of them knew me though. I mean afterall, they were older and cooler than me! I see that Macky Cain is a member...I remember him being such a goofball! And Jeff Granger...I had SUCH a crush! Mary Andrews is still so pretty. I was in the same class as her brother, Scott. Anyway.....

I have had the pleasure of exchanging emails with a few Dragons over the years, but I am curious to find out about different people that attended SHS from all the graduating classes.

I am still very good friends with some people that went to SHS. Melanie (McClure)Skinner is still one of my best friends. She married Paul Skinner and they both were in the class of '80. I am still in touch with Cyndi Armstrong ('79) and Jan Shirley ('80) and occasionally Belinda Sargent ('80).

I love this new site and I am trying to get the word out about it to as many Dragons as I can.

I would love to hear from anybody that remembers me!

Re:Class of 1980 - 2007/07/28 11:07 Hi, Susie,

I remember you. I always thought you were so cute! You seemed to have a permanent smile on your face. I was in Brian's class. It is good to hear that he is doing well. I married Alan McDaniel from Buddy's class, and we live in the Snellville/Loganville area. Our oldest daughter goes to school at Berry College up near you, and she dates a wonderful young man from Trion. It is scary when your oldest goes to high school, but it is such fun to see then grow up. Our youngest will be a senior this year. Time flies!!

I hope to see you at the reunion!

Take Care!

Re:Class of 1980 - 2007/07/30 03:06 Hi Wendy,

I remember you. I remember Melinda Moore, too. She and I also went to Elementary School together. When you see her tell her hello for me. (And tell her about this awesome site!)

Your kids sound great. My daughter amazes me everyday! She is 14 and starting HS next week. Ugh! Scares me! She is a little bitty thing, but she is sassy like her Mama! Thank goodness she is laid back like her Daddy!

Dede Pearson...wow! There is someone I loved! She was a hoot! She moved to Florida between 11th and 12th grade. We wrote back and forth for a couple of years, but then we lost touch. I wish I could track her down. She always cracked me up!

Didn't you have cousins that went to SHS, too? Other Wilsons and the Dosters? Or am I mistaken? I AM getting old afterall!

Re:Class of 1980 - 2007/08/11 01:02 Susie-
I remember you. Considering that you graduated in 1980, it seemed like you were friends with Carrie Gunn? Way back during the high school days, my family lived in the same apartment complex, Meadowrun Apartments off Brockett Road as the Gunns.
I also remember you from your brother, Brian. He and I graduated in the same year. If you would, please tell me that I said hello.

Re:Class of 1980 - 2007/08/11 09:39 Hi Terry, I remember you...I actually had a crush on you for awhile! I was not "best" friends with Carrie Gunn, but I knew her and liked her.

Yeah, most people knew me as "the little sister" of Brian, Bud, Mark, or Ronnie. It used to annoy me, but I got over it!

Brian just joined the site a few days ago. His User Name is Brain. Not because he is smart, but because people spell his name that way all the time! (OOOPS! Now he is gonna give me a wedgie or something for saying that! Hehehehe!)

Good to hear from you! Take Care!

Re:Class of 1980 - 2007/10/13 12:16 David Parker ('80) was one of my favorite people at SHS!!!

In typing class, Ms. Thompson used to make me close my eyes while I was typing so that I wouldn't look at my fingers. Good ole David would quietly take my paper out of my typewriter while my eyes were closed, and I would be typing NOTHING! GRRR!!!!

We were always playing tricks on each other!!
I absolutely adored that butthead!
