Re:SOULJA BOY - 2007/11/09 23:07 No but I will order it just for Chuck to do at our next gathering. Tell him to get practicing as he has to do the dance while he sings it! Lisa Kerley

Re:SOULJA BOY - 2007/11/09 23:44 OK, kids, I have just become educated on the meaning of Soulja Boy and Superman. My teenager introduced my to www.urbandictionary.com If you go there and search for "superman," you may be in for a surprise. Check out the first entry. Sharon, this explains why the group in the diner was so surprised to see you do "Superman" when you came in!

I hate it when I don't know what is going on. I have learned from my students, though, that I have to be very careful what I say when I don't know what the hidden meanings are. <sigh> Remember when we could listen to a song and just have fun with stuff, without having to worry about nasty meanings?

Re:SOULJA BOY - 2007/11/09 23:55 Don't look at the urbandictionary Sharon...take my word for it, I too see why those kids laughed at us! hahahahaha

The only meaning of Superman I had ever known was #2! And yes I AM NAIVE and INNOCENT!

Re:SOULJA BOY - 2007/11/10 00:08 Oh, Lisa! You're fun! OK, now that we are all grossed out by Soulja Boy and what we didn't know about it, further research has uncovered YouTube Soulja Boy videos with SpongeBob and Lion King. These may make you giggle if you forget about the meaning of the original song.

Re:SOULJA BOY - 2007/11/10 08:46 I can promise you all I had NO IDEA of what the lyrics were until yesterday when Jay Clingman emailed me with the lyrics and urban whatever it is website.

I nearly died. Like I told him...I couldn't understand a thing they were saying in this song except for Superman and Soulja boy which I thought was "soldier boy" until Sherry corrected me..LOL

So at any rate, my take on it is...whatever~~ we had fun with the beat of the song (don't know any other way to put that). Afterall it does have a catchy beat that is good to dance to.

I"d imagine we're like a large majority of naive 8 and 9 year olds who just like to dance to that song and hundreds of other songs and have NO IDEA what they're about or what in the world they're even saying....LOL

I'm with Andie...let's just forget about the trashy meaning and have fun with it.

Re:SOULJA BOY - 2007/11/10 11:32 AMEN SISTER!!!! I am sure it is not the 1st song we have liked the beat and danced to that has an "alternative meaning" and won't be the last!

Just no wonder those kids were laughing at us...they knew we had no idea! haha
