Re:McLendon Elementary - 2008/06/18 00:10 Wow, I had forgotten all about the air raid sirens and sitting in the hall with our heads between our knees..

Have any of you told your kids about that? Bet they can't beleive it. Mine were shocked when I told them about the few fights that we had that were really "racially motivated". They are just blown away.

Sharon, I remember you as a patrol. Had forgotten about that too.. wonder if that was when my crush on you started..

Didn't you "date" Mike Jobes for a while? Wonder what's up with him. Anyone know?

Alan

Re:McLendon Elementary - 2008/06/18 18:07 Well I don't know about ya'll, but I use to really like the cool carnivals we had there. Cotton candy, spook house, alot of fun for kids.
Remember field day, eating sack lunch outside under the trees.

Re:McLendon Elementary - 2008/09/12 23:29 Vonda, I am trying to remember you - My family lived on Vista Brook Drive from 1956 til the 90s. My brothers David & Doug and sister Donna and myself Denise - last name was Pelt - we all went to McLendon from when it was built. David Crumbley, Thomas Hitchcock, Adrienne Ashton, The Hendrix, The Scotts, and more lived in the neighborhood. David went on to Druid Hills, the rest of us to Shamrock. I married my high school sweetheart from Decatur High and we celebrated 35 years in March - Donna married Gary Drews from class of 72. I graduated class of 71. Write and tell me if you remember me - we lived at 3065 Vista Brook. Denise (Pelt) Gower

Re:McLendon Elementary - 2008/09/18 00:11 Denise,

Victor Mixon here. What is Doug doing these days? We lived around the corner on Valley Circle. We used to play football in your yard all the time and on the "little street".

Re:McLendon Elementary - 2008/09/18 01:14 I knew your brother Doug Pelt! We lived off of Valley Brook Road. Wasn't Doug a "Red Head"? Sweet as he could be too!
