RE: Chick Fil A - 2007/08/15 17:57
I was new at SHS for our junior year, and it seemed to me that every new student I met at school was working at Chick Fil A. I'm preparing my daughters already for that rite of passage, and they're 10 and 13!
Crawford - I remember you from school... I remember your great blond hair, and how the girls used to all look when they thought you weren't watching... first guy I remember being jealous of!
Thanks much for your Marine Corps service. Hate to throw out cliches, but I live within bugle range of Ft. Jackson, now, and lived across the river from Parris Island a few years ago, and have always seen the great service provided. Well done.

Hi Jay,
I remember you too.. The USMC was actually neet. I learned a lot and it helped me find myself. I guess I never knew about the girls ? I remember being shy until about the 11th grade. My senior year I had open campus and only took a couple of classes and was out of school at noon each day.

RE: Burger King - 2007/08/15 22:44
Any Burger King alumni out there?
One of my best memories was working until midnight on Friday, then going to the 2am Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Another favorite was turning the a/c down as low as it would go. Everyone in the kitchen appreciated it, but the boys appreciated the affect it had on the braless girls who were eating in the dinning room.
And then there was always capturing giant bugs outside that were attracted to the light and throwing them in the bug zapper. Of course it wasn't me, but more the likes of Vicky Wallace that got the big thrill out of this activity.

I was a McDonald's (Tucker) employee for one summer. It paid for my trip that winter to Paris & London with the French Club.
They didn't have a uniform small enough to fit me so I had to safety pin my pants to my top to keep them from falling down! I don't seem to have that problem these days!!!

My first job was neither Chick-fil-a or mickydees, but the old blue roof at North Dekalb. The IHOP. Always came home smelling lke a blueberry pancake. Just loved washing those dishes and clearing those tables.

Patty, enjoyed your post....my ex, Philip worked at the same IHOP and to this day is a far better cook than I will ever be ( or aspire to be - I am a picky eater and hate even thinking about food).....he can still expertly prepare everything on the IHOP menu ( every blintz, omelette etc) and when our children were small he made them pancakes in the shape of different things - cars, butterflies , etc without using a mold.....his career at IHOP ended when the owner accidentally shot the cook (true story - Philip had to testify in the subsequent court proceedings ) ......in an unrelated sidebar, my older sister Boonie worked at the aforementioned Burger King and dated the then manager Tim Timmons.

I worked at the western sizzlin, on n. decatur rd., from Feb. 14th. 72 through May 74. I remember several Shamrock folks, coming and going, during my tenure. I remember John Reed, Mike Cook, Johny Walker, Ronnie Gosnell.

Johnny Walker lives in Tucker. He works at the Cofer co., that has been in Tucker forever. A few years ago he was working at the Lowes store on Pleasant Hill rd., just about 4 or 5 miles from my house. I'll tell you a funny story. I had not seen or talked to him in years and I called Lowes and asked to speak to someone in the garage door dept.. A voice answered the phone and said this is John. I knew immediately it was him. It was too funny. I went strait down there and bought a garage door from him. I'll see if I can talk him into joining this site.

I remember it! I worked there also. I also worked at Milton Bradley a couple of doors away and at the movie theater next to that.
Its hard to beleive back then a movie theater only had one screen and the same movie played weeks at a time. When I worked there The Godfather played for like 6 weeks. Other movies I remember playing there was The Graduate and A Clockwork Orange ... think I remebered all the lines from those movies when I worked there.

To all of you who worked in the food service industry and made it last more than one day, I applaud you.
I worked at 6 flags, in the employee cafeteria. I think the guy who wrote the song "Take this job and shove it" must have worked there right before he went into music.
If you recall, they didn't have to pay minimum wage because they employeed so many kids. So, we didn't get paid much at all, stood up all day and, in my case, put up with all of the employees who had been smiling for the visitors all day. But we got guest passes and could bring anyone we wanted several times a year
As if anyone who worked there ever wanted to go back.
And in my Mustang, driving from Clarkston to there and back, I actually lost money.. walked out, in the shoes they "gave" me and never went back. I didn't wait to get fired.

Howdy Mark,
How I enjoyed closing down and cleaning that dang shake machine. I hate milkshakes to this day. Also remember the Halloween we all dressed up and a few of us counterworkers were drunk on the job.. Oh the memories? Big shout out to Vicky W. for getting me hired on in the first place. And where are Cheri G and Laura N?
