Beverly Jenkins Dad - 2008/03/20 17:38 Here is a FYI. The past couple of days here in the Atlanta news has been a story about a 81 year old man and his 78 year old wife who lived on Zemory and had a home invader wake them up and the man Bob Jenkins took his gun and found a very large black male standing in his kitchen wearing only his boxers! Mr Jenkins asked the man what he was doing and to get out of his house. The intruder told Mr Jenkins to give him the gun so Bob Jenkins 81 years old and father of Shamrock Grad Beverly Jenkins did just that he gave it to him 3 times protected his home and wife. The Dekalb police said Mr Jenkins did it by the book and no charges will be filed. Mr Jenkins has been an inspiration to me as long as I have known him as he has his own lawn service business and works harder than most men half his age. all I can say is the man picked the wrong house to invade. Thats one for the good guys!

telling me about Mr Jenkins. Poor Gail, lives down the street & didn't know anything about it until the next morning when Beverly called her. He's a hero in my book and very lucky. I would shoot first and ask questions later!

Re:Beverly Jenkins Dad - 2008/03/20 20:44 I looked this up in the AJC last night, after Marshall called and told me about it...the funny thing is that they quoted a family friend named Jack Sartain...does that name sound familiar? Like Robin Sims Sartain? Robin didn't know him...but still, small world!

This reminded me a lot of a story about an elderly man and a break-in in Hank's parents' neighborhood a few years back...only the elderly man died.

I'm glad to hear that the Jenkins survived (they say it was her handgun), and hope the stress of all this (news hounds included) is not too much for the two of them.

So glad to hear that no charges will be filed against him. Kinda makes me mad that it was even considered! Sheesh!
