Daver,, you're right,, if anyone goes once,, they'll be hooked for life.
In the pit area you can get saturated with NITRO fuel,noise levels that are beyond belief and smells that will either wake you up or cause you to pass out !! Not many motor sports that allow you to stand next to a car and feel 7000 !! Horsepower !! I mean right next to it,, within 20 feet !! You can walk thru the pit area and talk to the drivers and watch them completely rebuild a car in 75 minutes. I admire NASCAR pit crews that can change 4 tires in 14 seconds,, buy the NHRA pit crews rebuild an entire engine in a little over an hour.
You can sit in the stands and get speckled with rubber flakes from the burnouts. Your eyes can't even focus when a top fuel leaves the starting line and heads down track.
The fastest cars on the planet. They go faster in 60 feet than most of us ever go in a vehicle and pull more "G" forces than the space shuttle.
WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE???
One thing that really gripes my a**,, the local news didn't say a word about it.... NOT A WORD !!
If drag racing was on the sports channels more,, more people would go to the events. I like NASCAR,, not as much as drag racing,, but when NASCAR comes to town, it's all over the news and radio,, WHY??
Matter of fact, I'm going to write the local news and ask why,, everyone should. This is the wildest sport you'll ever love if people just knew more about it.
