Are We All Conected Somehow? - 2008/05/09 23:31
This is a true story that happend in 1999. Please pay attention to the seeming meaningless details as they all come together at the end. I wasn't the scholar in High School or college but 3 courses I took in college changed my view of the Universe. Geology, Astronomy, and Physics. Well, I was shopping at a mall in Orlando Florida and they had a new "Discovery Type" bookstore. I noticed a book and picked it up and started reading it. The book was called "A Brief History of Time" by Stephen Hawking written in 1988. Well if you don't know, as I did'nt at the time, this was a famous modern day Einstein who had written this book in laymans terms about the latest Theories of Physics and Origins of the Universe. It explained how there are TWO main catagories of physics...Newton's laws explained everything large...Like Gravity, The Speed of light is constant and is the speed limit of everything. Einstein proved that time was relative to the speed of the observer. The second laws of physics are called Quantum mechanics, which eplains how everything very small works...at the molecular and atomic level. Both laws work for their situation but It was Einstein's dying pursuit of a Unified Theory...1 theory that would simply explain how everything works. Stephen Hawking explained a few of the problems that exist with this. One part in Quantum mechanics explains how a "particle" has a companion or anti particle" One particle spins clockwise and it's anti particle spins counter clokwise" Scientist have proven this with an experiment where they had the clockwise particle at one location and it's anti particle very far away. They changed the direction of the clockwise particle's spin and INSTANTLY it's anti particle changed it's spin. You still with me?.... This brings up some problems of the laws of the speed of light. Nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. How did these particles communicate instantly? Light has another strange issue. Light is a wave..just like a radio wave, sound wave, etc. but experiments have proven that light acts like a particle sometimes. OK...no more Physics...but Hawking brought up some phenomena that we all know of but have no scientific proof...ESP...Dejavu...Twins knowing what the other is about to say...That feeling or instict you have about something. Hawking asked "Perhaps the Universe is all connected in some way?" Anyway, I spent 25 minutes reading this book at the store which i obviously liked...but for some reason...I just put the book down and left. I headed home and stoped to check my mail box...always just bills and junk mail. I grabbed the wad of mail and headed inside the house and noticed that I had received a package....It was from my Dad....not my birthday...what could it be? ....I opened the package....and it was THAT BOOK! He had no Idea that that was an interest of mine.... Why did I decide not to buy that book?.... And the book was about....Maybe the universe is one conected whole and that appeared to be just what happened.
I'm not one to believe in ESP, Spirits, Fate, An Angel was watching over me. I'm sure this was just a coincidence...Maybe...I think...Who knows? I'm sure everyone has some "Twilight Zone" Story. Lets here 'em Jeff Shirley 1978 P.S. I gave Peter Merit my Bong in 1979....so....

Happy Birthday Jeff! For someone that says he's not a scholar you surely write and/or are interested in some pretty intellectual subjects. You probably did well with essays and reports in school. About the book, did you tell your dad the story and what did he say? I do think we're all connected. There was some connection that day you didn't get the book and then you did! I can just hear you after opening that package saying "I can't believe this!" In regards to Twilight Zone stories..... I may have a thought but don't really dwell on it or think it through. I only think that thought for a split second then forget it. Then later something will happen that was related to it. For example, once my boyfriend (a dragon) was backing out of his driveway. His sister's boyfriend had parked his vette in the street near the driveway. I had one of those thoughts but blew it off and the next thing we knew he had hit that Corvette. I had wanted to tell him to remember that the car was parked there but didnt. It's just a simple little thought that I don't pay attention to. Sometimes when driving I think that I should turn left instead of right and take a different route but instead go the way I'd planned on in the beginning. Then there's a wreck in front of me further down the road blocking traffic. I should've listened to that thought. This kind of thing happens to me a lot and it's not easy to explain. You may think I AM from the Twilight Zone but hey, you asked!

OK, It's late...But I can't tell you how many times I have thought of some topic that was immediately expressed by someone that had nothing to do with the converstion going on at the time. This happened most with my Mother but many other people as well. Again I'm not someone who entertains any of the ideas of ESP...Talking with Spirits...or even believe in God as written in any book. But then ....Maybe...I'm wrong...and I know that all kinds of unexplained phenomena occur all around us. I just happen to think that this one that occured with me was quite thought prevoking, and allowed me to admit that as someone that thinks I know know it all, is quite sure of nothing!

Hey Jeff(My Brother!)~HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!~I feel that this is going to be one of the best year's of your life! You deserve all the desires of your heart, mind and soul to come true! You may have found a new career in writing, because this was an amazing story and explanation of what happened that day with Dad. As I read your words, I could feel what you must have been feeling that day! He had a gift for writing and so do you. You should start writing a book~right away and become a millionaire and support your sister and kids~j/k!
My belief is that yes we are all connected and this Universe that we live in is a lot of things and one of them that I pay most attention to is of the spiritual nature. I believe that if we are truly aware we will have signs, wonders, prayers answered, be guided and led in the direction that will be best for our souls to take in this journey called life.
I am so happy that God gave me the parents that I have and the brother that I love!
Happy Birthday! xoxoxo D'Lynn(Your Sis)

I too believe we are all connected in some way. It is really strange sometime to be sitting there and all the sudden think of something off the wall and then something happens to make you think of that initial thought.
I belive there is a reason for everything that goes on around us, good and bad. There is a reason that all of out parents decided to buy houses where we would all have the same classmates and know each other too. Even if whoever reads this does not believe in "spirital connections", look at it this way, we are all connected in someway by the experiences we had at SHS!
D'Lynn-- I have not seen too many postings stating how proud we are to have the parents and sibling that we have but I, like you, could not have been more honored to have the people I call Mom and Dad! And although I got tired of being Sharon's little sister and Greg's big sister, being the middle child was not so bad! (well most of the time anyway) and I believe our family values, the connections that we have had through friends at school, etc. have all influenced who we are and why we love this site so much! There is a reason that Bob created this avenue for us!

Dlynn7,
Hi there! I can still picture you in the halls of SHS. You may or may not remember me, but I hope that you do. I would love to find out how Donna Chewning, and Donna Hildreth are these days. Do you know?
I had to respond to your post regarding the love and admiration you have for your brother. Also, the support that you publicly express. I am blessed that my children Danielle and Chad are close. It is an awesome thing to have a great reltionship with your siblings. However, I just want to say, that it does not always come naturally. It is instilled at a young age that is nurtured by loving parents. When the children are the priority, the relationships can only grow into the loving, loyal, and honorable VALUE that they should be. Your parents must be incredibly proud of you guys. I know that I am incredibly proud of my children. They love each other through the hard times and they love each other when they disagree too.
It is an added benefit when your brother is as handsome as Jeff. Danielle just mentioned today how incredibly "Cool" she thinks her brother is. There are not to many 6' tall, Auburn, Green Eyed 16 year old's walking around that have the dreams and ambitions that Chad has!
Connected we are! Please pardon the Star Trek verbage We all take the Good, Bad, and the Ugly on a daily basis.
It is awesome when the goodness out weighs the ugly! I am sure that is what keeps us all going.
Thanks for sharing!

My parents were strict and tough, but they were great parents. Mama STILL expects me to be on my best behavior! (I disappoint her a lot!) Daddy had been gone 15 years, but I still feel that connections that Jeff was talking about.
Do I HAVE to say that I am proud to have the brothers I was stuck with???? GOSH!!!! I'd rather eat worms! My brothers are all gross poo poo heads. I was SUPPOSED to be an only child! My parent just made four VERY HUGE mistakes before they finally got it right with me!!! After I was born, they KNEW they had created perfection, and they didn't need any more children!
. . . . . .
Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Ok, I think I threw my back out when I fell on the floor laughing!
I really do love my brothers, but if anyone tells them, I will deny it!

Ok Susie....this thread it getting a little "touchy feeley" for True Troglodite aka "Al Bundy" that I worship! Re-check D'lynn's and my guestboook entries where it states how as teenagers we felt the same about each other as you and your brothers did at that age. I felt we had nothing in common and only had our own selfish pursuits. I liked her,and thought that she was a good person that treated everyone with respect. It's only now that we are finding out how much we are alike and our interest are the same, but regret all the years that have passed us by not shareing our lives more than we have. Dammit..."Touchy/Feeley again! Ok, I'm off to the "Nudie Bar" for my monthly "No/Mam" meeting! Jeff Shirley 1978

Nudie Bar? Really? Are they still called that?
Jeff, my oldest brother, Ronnie is 11 years older than me older than me, so I was just a "baby sister" to him. He went off to college when I was in maybe the 2nd grade. Mark is 7 years older than me, and he just used me to perfect his wrestling moves and as a human torture victim. Bud, Brian, and I were all born within three years of each other, so we were somewhat closer when we were little. By the time we were in HS, Bud didn't have much use for me at all. Of course, Bud didn't have much use for anybody! Brian and I actually got along great back in our SHS days, but I think it is just because we had to share the Emerald Green Dodge...ack!
I was always known as "(Ronnie)(Mark)(Bud)(Brian)'s Little Sister," or as "Little Martin." Sometimes my Mama even got my name wrong...sheesh! You'd think being the only girl she would get my name right!
I know what you mean about the touchy/feely thing...I mean after all...we ARE talking about siblings....EWWWW!
(But just because I agree with you DOESN'T mean I am gonna hang out at a "nudie bar!")

The closest thing to a "nudie bar" in Fairburn is probably the sweeties at "Cafe 74" the all night trucker stop! My last visit to a strip club was with my future father in law for my bachlor party in Ft.Lauderdale around 1991!

Twilight Zone Experience number Two.... Oct. 25 1999 ...Beautiful Clear blue sky Morning for a company sponsored Golf Scramble Tournament in Lake Mary Florida.
We Restaurant guys get all the beer and liquor purveyors to sponsor the events which of course means service by the "Bud Girls" and shots of Quervo for any excuse for a celebratory toast! One of my buddies on my team was a pilot/airplane fanatic. About 9:30 Cote says "Jeff....Look up there". I Looked up to to see a somewhat low flying jet....nothing unsual as there are two airports nearby Sanford and Orlando. Cote tells me with excitement.."Jeff, That's a Lear A/C 35", or some airplane model that meant nothing to me. "Jeff, That's the finest Lear Jet made...One day.. My Dream is to own and fly one of those babies!" So I said "Cool... Now who's closet to the pin?" We finished our tournament; none of us could come through with any good saves....too many Tequilas..But man those Scrambles make golf fun.
That afternoon as I was driving home....I was listening to the radio and they interrupted the program to say that Payne Stewart and the crew members appeared to be dead on a runaway Lear A/C 35 Jet! They stated that the plane had originated from Orlando and had been off course for several hours.
Lake Mary is right in between Orlando and Sanford....The Jet pointed out to me was within the timeframe that it was possible that it was Payne's jet.
I had certainly never heard of a Lear A/C 35 before..much less twice in one day...
Hmmm..My Dad's book received 1999.. Witnessed plane crash in 1973...
There are more...but these two are the best
