Frank's Barber & Style Shop in Tucker - 2008/05/10 16:38
Does anyone remember barber Frank Lentini?
My dad was one of Frank’s first customers when Frank moved from New York to Tucker and opened his shop. Daddy and Frank were great friends. Frank used to make special trips to the Burger King I worked at near N DeKalb Mall just to check on and visit with me. (Come to think of it, Daddy probably put him up to those visits! ) He even sat on the front row with my parents at my first wedding AND he caught my niece/flower girl when she fainted during the ceremony!
Naturally, when it came time for my son Raymond’s first haircut there was only one person for the job – Frank! Raymond was terrified, but Frank put him right up in the chair and started telling Raymond stories about my dad and about me and he had Raymond at ease and even giggling in no time. Raymond adored Frank.
Sadly Frank died in October 2006 so, heartbroken, we started taking Raymond to Frank’s barber, Charles, who is next door to the Ace Hardware in Tucker. Unfortunately, Charles suggested that the lady barber who works in his shop cut Raymond’s hair. She’s cut Raymond’s hair a few times, but he really really really doesn’t like to have his hair cut by her – we don’t know if he doesn’t like the cuts she gives him or if he doesn’t like her or what the problem is -- but it is a problem.
Raymond likes his hair (believe it or not, Gail ) pretty darn short – almost military short – and he wants it cut that way NOW – but he’s come up with some real side-splitting reasons to not go back to “that lady.” Shoot, he’s even asking ME to cut his hair! Which leads me to this:
Does anyone know of a really great, talkative, personable (preferably older) male barber within a 10-mile radius of Tucker who is good with kids?
We’re desperate hair – I mean – here.
