Senior Dance 10-18-69 - 2008/06/01 23:55 This is my memory of a Shamrock dance which I had written about in my senior scrapbook. I was 17 and going to The Senior Dance! It was held on Oct. 18, 1969 and started at 7:30pm until 11:30pm. I went stag and my brother Steve also went. My first dance was with a freshman, Billy Lord. I had a crush on him back then! I danced 3 & 1/2 dances with a college kid from U.T. named Roy Webster. He was a friend of a friend. The first three dances with him were fast and the third was a slow dance. We didn't get to finish that dance thanks to him. I found out that he'd been drinking a little. One of his friends came up while we were dancing and wanted Roy's keys. (I can imagine what we wanted with them.) He gave him the keys and his friend left us and went to the door. While I was still dancing Roy went chasing after his friend leaving me out in the middle of the floor dancing alone! I went into the hall using the other door. Roy was in the hall looking for me so before he saw me I went back into the cafeteria where the dance was being held. Then he came in there looking for me. I went to the opposite side where I knew he wouldn't come. I was glad he didn't. My last dance was with Chuck Pennington. He was a great guy and I'm glad we got to dance. I should've danced more dances with Chuck instead of the other guy.
Does anyone have any stories about SHS dances? I'd like to hear them!

Re:Senior Dance 10-18-69 - 2008/06/02 00:01 Laurie, I think Roy Webster was a friend of my oldest brother, Ronnie, who graduated from Clarkston in 1969. What a coinkydink! ~~ Dragon #9 Susie

It's never too late to have a happy childhood, but the second one is up to you and no one else.

Re:Senior Dance 10-18-69 - 2008/06/02 00:34 There was a Victory Dance on October 24, 1969. We had played a game against Berkmar and won 34 - 0! We smeared 'em! I was late getting there and arrived at 10:45. First I went to primp in the restroom then went to get some refreshments. I went and danced with Doug Mason and went around to talk with friends. Bob Goldman said he thought that Tom Jones would be there. (not THE Tom Jones). This T.J. had moved from out-of-state and went to SHS for his senior year only. And, I had a crush on this guy too! Anyway, he didn't show up. Bob Bradford was there but we didn't dance this time. (remember I wrote about him in a previous post...he's the one I had my first dance with). I don't remember the name of the band that played. They played a lot of L-O-N-G songs. I wish I'd gotten to this dance earlier. The time went by too fast and it was time to go.
