Another 'Swinging Richards' show! - 2008/06/09 21:11
Well...we had so much fun at our reunion show back in December that we've decided to do it again! And everyone here is cordially invited...it will be at Smith's Olde Bar on Saturday, June 28th...it was great seeing so many of you at the Riggs show and I hope that you all can make it out to see us.
For those of you who haven't heard of use we formed in the early 80s and lasted till about 1988...during that time we opened for dozens of national acts including The Allman Brothers, Warrant, Ted Nugent, Alvin Lee, Bonnie Raitt, Duran Duran (sold out at the Ommi!) and many many more...we did original music in the vein of Tom Petty and Cheap Trick. We also won the 96 Rock Peach Jam once (maybe twice, I can't remember )
Anyway please come on out and since my memory is dismal come up and let me know who you are!!!!

Hod my friend you know I will do everything in my power to get down there, That I promise. Is Peter in town to play or is he out with Sheryl Crowe? I enjoyed meeting Lynn Stroud at my benefit and I can't wait to see who comes out for this.I hope Marty comes down and sits in on a song or two. Take care Buddy and see you then. Marshall

We will be there! I'm gonna start catching up on my sleep now...and maybe exercise my vocal cords a little too...charge it up for some more ROCK STARS!!!  woohoooo!! 
Hey guys, Marshall's not tellin', but he spent the week after Memorial Day in the hospital, managed to survive yet another "Miracle of Modern Medicine" malady (you should hear the list), and run up a bunch more bills...times are tough and he ain't got enough, so let's help him out all we can, OK?
(Love's good, but money pays the bills!)
And next time that man lands in the hospital, would somebody PLEASE let me know?

There seems to be a little confusion about the upcoming event at Smith's Olde Bar...this is NOT a benefit for Marshall Downing... 
This is a reunion event for Hoddy's old band, The Swinging Richards...and Marshall will be there if he's feeling up to it Saturday night... 
But the price of the ticket for this event ($10) does NOT include a donation to the Marshall Downing Fund, so if you're not planning to attend (be there ARE be square!) and you want to help Marshall out, make a donation to the Wachovia account listed below instead! Marshall has been fighting the battle against colon cancer for FIVE YEARS, and the bills keep coming in...
For those of you who are planning to attend Saturday night -- see ya'll there! We'll be passing the hat for Marshall, so bring some cash!

The Swinging Richards show last night was fantastic! Thanks, Hoddy! A good time was had by all. Y'all sounded great and it was fun seeing so many friends. We wish Marshall could have been with us but understand sometimes it is hard to get out when you aren't feeling well. For those of you who missed it, make sure and see the Swinging Richards next time they play! My brother, Kevin flew in from St. Louis just to hear the band and I know he will be back next time as well.

Karen, you got that right!!! The show was excellent and Hoddy was great. It was ashame that Marshall could not be there but those who were there made it that much better. My ears are still ringing
Jamie Waters, Words cannot express how great it was to see you again and making that drive all the way from Savannah and meeting your family (your daughter looks just like you) I just can' say enough. I know the view was somewhat bad because of the crowd but I did offer my shoulders for those ladies who could not see.
I went to You tube Sunday and saw video of the Swinging Ceasers just about 6 mpnths ago. OK, answer me this. There is Riggs and then some of those musicians who are in Swinging Ceasers, and then you have The Swinging Richards. Seems there are some group name changes but basically the same members. The Swinging Richards Have around for 30 yrs. Just curious.
ROCK ON, ROCK HARD, ROCK LOUD!!!

Hey and sorry I was just NOT up to getting out last night and from the reports I got today from Karen and Dave a good time was had by all! I am glad there was a big turn out and Dave said that Hoddy and the rest of the band kicked ass!
To answer Stephens question about Riggs yes it was 30 years ago and Swinging Richards and Ceasar Speaks got going in the early to mid 80's. No one from Riggs was in either The Swinging Richards or Ceasar speaks BUT Dave played with Hoddy and Marty Huie in Snatch before the Riggs years. There were members in both Swinging Richards and Ceasar Speaks including Hoddy. I hope that helps.
I do wish I could have made it out last night all I can say is maybe next time. Yall take care. Marshall

I really missed seeing you Saturday night. I just want you to know that I peeled your "Reserved for Marshall Downing" sign off the table and took it home with me! I will look forward to seeing you next time. God Bless my friend.
Hoddy, Thanks for the incredible music! I had a hard time standing still. The sax player was a bonus and I thoroughly enjoyed the energy bouncing off the stage.
Stephen B, it was awesome to see you. And, there was a time when I would have taken you up on the shoulder seat! You are the same sweetie I remember from school. My husband Joe really enjoyed talking with you
Stephen P, thanks for the warm welcome. My family enjoyed meeting everyone and they loved the music as much as their dad and I did. It was a great time.
Gail, Hank, and Karen....... It was wonderful to finally get to spend a little time with you guys. I had such a good time and we are looking forward to the next event where we all can talk to each other and catch up.
I know that there were others that we spoke to and I just want to say how cool it was to be a part of a crowd of "Dragons" for the first time in so many years. We are looking forward to every opportunity we have to spend time with all of you!  MUAH!
