The Womacks finally getting back to Atlanta - 2008/06/21 23:04 Hey class of 1979. I know this is last minute but Debbie the kids and I are visiting Atlanta next weekend and want to extend a picnic invitation. We are planning an informal picnic at Stone Mountain park Sunday June 29th at 3pm. We are going to gather in the front of the carvings to left side as you face the mountain. Melinda (my sister in law) says there are some tables near that side. This is a bring what you need, stay as long as you like and have a good time with the whole family get together. I sent a few personal emails out and then thought about using the forum. Please invite whoever you want. Classmates, teachers, friends, and family. We plan on just hanging around and staying for the laser show. By the way, I'll be the bald guy with the two kids in college and the two kids in elementary school sucking down oxygen while chasing the fresbie. Gary Womack

Re:The Womacks finally getting back to Atlanta - 2008/06/22 13:50 Debbie and Gary -- We are going to my aunt's 90th birthday party next Sunday in Rutledge, Ga. Depending upon when we leave, we might be able to stop in at the park and say hi and give y'all a hug. Besides, my son has never been to the laser show so it might be a nice treat for him after putting up with all of us old folks at the b'day party.

I do hope it works out - would love to see y'all!

Re:The Womacks finally getting back to Atlanta - 2008/06/24 12:08 Thanks for replying. This was last minute during the summer. Very bad timing. If you could swing by I would love it. I still talk about chatting online during the reunion. Just spread the word. We haven't been to Atlanta in 5 years and wanted to make the effort. We don't get down much because we always meet at the folks in Tennessee which is halfway for everyone. Enjoy the bday party and great hearing from you.

Re:The Womacks finally getting back to Atlanta - 2008/06/25 19:14 Gary,

You don't look much different than you did in school. Joe and I would really like to make it over to the mountain to see you and your family. However, we will probably be very tired from hanging out with Marshall Downing and many others at Olde Smith's Bar on the evening of the 28th. Maybe you and the bride can make it out for this event to celebrate Marshall. We would love to see you there! Folks are planning to meet there as early as 7:00.

P.S. We have already made plans to spend lunch with Joe's parents.

Hi Gary and Debbie,

Can't wait to see you! Ray and I will be there. We hope to bring some of our family if their work schedules permit. We may also bring our 2 grandsons if they arrive back from Panama City in time. No matter what, I will be there!! Would not miss seeing you both and your family!
Love you!

Re:The Womacks finally getting back to Atlanta - 2008/06/27 16:33 We are not coming to Atlanta. I have texted messaged a few people to let them know. Our son Peyton is in the hospital with severe headaches that they cannot stop. Some of you know of Peyton's history. For those that don't here is the cliff note version.
He was born with seizures and has severe brain abnormalities (ask Debbie, too complicated for me). He will be 11 years old Thursday. When he was 6 years old he had a hemisphorotomy which basically removed half his brain. He has done excellent since surgery almost 5 years ago.
However this is the second headache episode in the last year and a half. The first was stopped with a trip to the emergency room and IV. This one hasn't been so quick.
Prayers would be greatly appreciated.
We are planning a makeup trip to Atlanta but have no idea when. When we do we will let everyone know. Debbie and I miss you guys so much and were really looking forward to coming down. Hopefully this is just a little bump in the road. I am attaching a recent photo of the boy. He is very brave.

Re:The Womacks finally getting back to Atlanta - 2008/06/27 16:45 Here is the picture I promised. This was his first baseball game on a "regular" team. By the way he walked once and stuck out twice and was not happy about it. And yes he is a Yankee.

Re:The Womacks finally getting back to Atlanta - 2008/06/27 17:56 We just got done talking with two Neurologists. The CT scan was normal. Thank you Lord and thank you for your prayers. They are just now finishing up the exam of Peyton. He is complaining about how much they are making him do to examine him and that is a good sign. He is indignant (very humorous). Debbie and I are relieved for now. The doctors said they were going to go back and go over everything and come up with a treatment plan. He is staying at least overnight. Then we will go from there. Keep praying and we will keep updating.

Re:The Womacks finally getting back to Atlanta - 2008/06/28 11:27 Thanks for all the prayers. Great news, Peyton is doing well. The doctors just told us he's going home today unless a new headache creeps up. So far so good. They think he has a migraine. Never thought I would think that is a good thing but after brain surgery it's like stubbing your toe. He is back to normal, giving everyone grief and wanting to get to the Cabin in Tennessee.
Sorry the trip didn't work out but we are going to reschedule and make it this time. Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers. It helped. We were very worried. Now just exhausted.
Gary and Debbie

Ps Here he is watching his movie...for the 10th time....no more "Alvin and the Chipmonks" for a year.

There's always another day for Stone Mountain. Sounds like fun and is one of my favorite places also.
Hugs to you all!
