New GA laws starting 7/1/08 - 2008/06/30 22:57 So what do you still living in Georgia think about some of the new laws that go into effect July 1, 2008?

I personally find it a bit ODD that 1 law becomes more strick on DUI offenders while another one now allows patrons to take unfinished bottles of wine home with them from their favorite restuarant????

Oh--let me think-- isn't it also against the law to have OPEN containers in the vehicle in GA????

Don't get me wrong-- I don't condone driving drunk and oh yeah...I am not a wine drinker either but I just found it kind of ironic. I admit that I have driven at times I probably should not have but again, just find it funny that both of these laws go into effect on the same day.

What are some of the other laws coming our way?

I can't even begin to respond on any liquor or "blue laws" having dealt with them in the Resturant industry for 25 years. You warned me about Pandora's Box.... This topic can unleash demons from all kinds of very emotional points of view.

But Enjoy a nice bottle of Merlot on the 4th if you like.

Re:New GA laws starting 7/1/08 - 2008/07/01 00:46 I know what you mean Jeff...I dealt with them while managing bars and grills too! Just 2 that were mentioned on the news tonight...there are other laws that also go into effect July 1 too.

Any others come to mind?

P.S. Don't do wine but will enjoy a few Miller Lites at the lake!(spending the night so won't be driving the 15 miles home)

Re:New GA laws starting 7/1/08 - 2008/07/01 12:03 yeah just what we need.. someone going home from the bar with the 1/2 drank bottle of wine, carrying a gun on MARTA..and to think it can all be legal as long as you got a conceilment permit.. whats next? shooting someone in the park and calling it self defence? oh yeah they passed that law too..
