Dragon in need of a job! - 2008/08/14 18:10 Hey Dragons!

This is JulieBeth Golden, class of 1982. My partner and I were just recently laid off by the same company (I know, never do that again) and we're both looking for jobs!

My expertise is in Purchasing/Procurement of inventory and non-inventory items. I've handled Consumer Electronics, IT equipment and most recently seafood.
I'm hoping to find something in purchasing, but hey, I'm not picky and NEED EMPLOYMENT!

My partner's skills are in adminstrative work with an emphasis in Accounts Receivable, but she really loves working with children! She's working toward her Bachelor's in Health Sciences, hoping to eventually become a Pediatric Occupational Therapist. The lady needs a job to help pay for school!!!

We can do just about anything we put our minds to. Please let me know if you need even some temp help or know someone who does.

Thanks!

Re:Dragon in need of a job! - 2008/08/15 08:17 Ladies,

I have always had very good experiences using temp agencies. Most have temp to perm available. You provide your resume, take some tests, discuss your skills and parameters of preferences and they do the leg work. You can register with as many agencies as you like. Good luck to you both!

Re:Dragon in need of a job! - 2008/08/15 09:42 Hey,
Thanks for the response folks!

We're in Tucker.
Where do we want to work??? Well, we're not too particular right now. I'd like to stay in purchasing or operations for someone, but a specific company - do not really have one.
Yes, we both have updated resumes and can email anyone necessary.
No, haven't tried the merchandise mart. Great idea, thanks!
Haven't been to a temp agency in a long time. Definitely worth the try.

Thanks again for looking out for fellow dragon!

Re:Dragon in need of a job! - 2008/08/15 19:43 JulieBeth,
If you haven't already, go to http://www.indeed.com/
and look there. It is a clearinghouse for all posted jobs...(pulls them in from all the job search websites into one grouping). You can enter in specific key words such as Administrative or Purchasing, Or Inventory and it will automatically email you every time a new job is posted. Then you can decide if you want to apply.

Also, if you're not already registered on Linked.com, it's a great networking site. If you spend some time looking around on it, you will find a lot of recruiters who come highly recommended by others whom they have helped find a job.

Let me know if these things help.

Re:Dragon in need of a job! - 2008/08/18 12:46 Beverly,

Thanks so much for your help. I have become a job-search machine. I have an account on LinkedIn, but haven't found much there. I'm just trying to find something. As you know, Atlanta is a HARD area if you don't already know somebody some where.

Thanks again and have a great day!
